AWFUL AWFUL
The hotel overbooked and so told us that they didn't have a reservation for us after a long and exhausting journey. Luckily, we found a better hotel near by. AVOID THIS HOTEL.

We were very happy with the location of the hotel from where one can order a Uber or a Tuk Tuk for transport. Supermarkets and shops are within reasonable walking distance. The staff were available to clean the room every day and the room itself was nice an spacious with an ensuite shower room. There were two tables, two chairs as well as a refridgerator and a television. It was nice to have breakfast included which consisted of an omelette, bread,butter, jam, tea coffee, juice etc.

Looks good from outside, bedding was nice and chrisp but mosquito net small would not fit on the bed also holes in the nets that place needs major overhaul, lots of noise in the room from traffic outside

good location, fair price, nice terrace
We stayed two nights in separate periods. Once in double and once in triple. The double room faces the roof terrace (internal court) and was quite pleasing. The triple room (room 20) was next to the kitchen and the smell and noise were very disturbing. Overall cleanliness could be definitely improved, and we had both times to ask for towels.

Not worth the effort.
This place is an absolute hoax, I highly recommend you never stay here unless you love to share your room with cockroaches. Also don't expect your complaints to be addressed and should you find yourself having to check out and requesting your refund, you are given less than 15 mins to vacate as if you were an unruly guest. Kindly delete this place from your database.

Room was too hot to sleep, unit set at 16c and blew cool at best, fan did not help. Breakfast was ok. Location was central to old town and fort.

Almost vomited from the smells. Photos on web of hotel misrepresent how dirty, dingy and disgusting this hotel is. After sleepless night I checked out without compensation. Creepy hotel with zero amenities. Most unpleasant shower and room decor. No internet, no beer sold as it’s Muslim halal hotel. Disgusting hotel

I enjoyed the food most..
it was a good experience being my first visit to mombasa. The staff were very hospitable. The breakfast was good. Though you need to do something about the news..it require New matreses please!

nice hostel but quite dirty. The rooms are OK-ish but I got an electric shock in the shower because of the electric heater system. The wifi didnt work properly in the rooms. The AC and the ventilator were quite poor, the window in the bathroom was broken and the light over it almost falling. The only window in the room was boarded up. Sadly, I think the price of the rooms is WAY TOO HIGH for the comfort !

I've stayed here before so I knew what to expect. It was as expected. This is a get-what-you-pay-for hotel. It is inexpensive but in a great location. Nothing special, a little run down, but clean and comfortable.

Great experience, staff was great
The staff was great and it was a perfect location for exploring old town and the dicks and business district. Great tour of Swahili old town with tour guide who is employed by Fort. Aircon and fan worked great as did television also nice to have a refrigerator in the room . excellent breakfast served out on a very nice open courtyard in the top center of the building open ait, nice plants around. thus place has tons of charm.

The hotel is in the area with lots of banks and financial institutions. Its a bit dated inside, but everything works - shower, ceiling fan, air conditioning, fridge, TV. I couldn't get the wi-fi to cooperate much though. Service is quick, willing and polite. The manager is really helpful and even showed me to a really good salon where I had a great pedicure. The breakfast is filling and the beds are clean. There are two quite basic restaurants downstairs and a snackbar area serving soda, hot drinks and cakes. I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

Very happy with my experience. Stayed for 10 days. Good service - daily cleaning. Functioning A/C - very important for this climate. Fridge - able to keep cold water on hand. Staff helpful w/o being all up in your business. Breakfast pretty good - especially the pancakes. Real coffee vs. instant would be a nice touch. Cyber cafe and mPesa agent in lobby - very convenient! Easy to get cab or tuk-tuk out front. Terrace very peaceful and lovely in the evening. WiFi sort of works in rooms and definitely works on the terrace. Park yourself under a modem with a cup of cappuccino and click away.

Convenient Location but very basic
The New Palm Hotel has a very convenient location to the main historic sites in Old Town Mombasa (Ft. Jesus, etc). The service was generally good. However, it has very basic amenities and a few issues to note. 1. The toilet was not functioning but we were only there for one night; 2. There were bugs and we noted the man spraying the snack counter area with pesticide; 3. The A/C was not strong enough to keep us cool at night.

Convenient in location in Mombasa
Location is good. The mosquito net was the wrong size for the bed, but when we asked for a larger one they changed it very quickly. Food was ok, but nothing to write home about. But the safe were helpful and welcoming at all times.

In serious need of an upgrade
Its not a nice hotel. Its in a good location in the center of town. But the room was not in good shape. The furnishings are drab and rundown and my room was never cleaned. The staff is pleasant. I have no complaints about them but unfortunately that's about the only upside here.

Great location!
The great thing of the Palm Tree hotel is there innercourt. Meaning that, although in the middle of town, you have a place to sit outside in front of your rooms. For the rest, the rooms are a bit tired, but the bed was good and a new mosquitonet. The location does it and the staff is friendly and professional. I don't think you can find better in Mombasa for this price.

The epitome of Old Town Mombasa!
This hotel epitomizes everything about Mombasa central. It's very centrally located close to Old Town and Fort Jesus and a short walk to many restaurants. It also has good wifi. But it is a budget option, and you get what you pay for so don't expect more!

Very average, but working air conditioning. Nice inner courtyard with shade, breeze and sofas to relax in. Breakfast room horrible and breakfast served later than advertised. I was happy with it considering the prize.

Our family of three traveled to Mombasa for one night before taking a bus ride to Dar es Salaam. We stayed on the second floor of the New Palm Tree Hotel. The security guard was on duty outside of the guestrooms. The balcony or the roof top was spacious and very comfortable to walk around. The room was large and clean but everything was old. If they up grade the furniture and the bathrooms, they could charge a lot more for this place. I would say this is the best value hotel for our money.

One of the better hotels. Just be on the look out. At the entrance they have all of these tour booking companies that hound you soon as they see you. Great staff very friendly. One negative the internet only works on the main floor not in your room.

Good budget alternative with a great terrace and a decent lunch restaurant. Sadly the maintenance of the hotel and the specifically the rooms is poor, which really affects the hotel as a whole.

Excellent for the price
New Palm Tree is a good hotel to use for a couple of days if visiting Mombasa. It is very close to Fort Jesus, about a 5-10 minute walk, and the old town. The people who work there are very helpful. Basic but clean and very good value.
