“A nice experience”

“Forgettable experience”

Room was clean but dated. Climate control broken. Many minor annoyances including running toilet, leaky faucets, broken sink drain, missing towel rack,etc. Biggest complaint was with hotel supplied, at a per day charge, self parking in city owned garage where Modesto police issued a $116 ticket on my parked car for no front license plate, when car is registered in Utah. This encourages tourists to visit Modesto?? Hotel would not help with this.

“OK in Modesto”

I think the hotel needs an upgrade, old TV's, no refrigerators, missing the things found in newer hotels.

“Nice Place”

Nice hotel, friendly staff, good bar and restaurant, really close to the Gallo theatre. I'll stay there again if I ever get back to Modesto.

“It was better than most hotels in Modesto”

But still not completely up to par with some other hotels I have stayed at. Sure I would recommend it, but be ready to spend alot of money. Everything costs alot. No complementary breakfast. Food is ok priced, but go two blocks away and you can get alot more for the money. They expect a pretty large tip even after it is supposed to be charged to your bill. Not sure what that was about. Parking isn't really secure. So don't leave anything visible, especially in the area the hotel is in. It doesn't cost that much for parking over night, so no high expectation there. Over all, it was very clean, people were very nice, and it was comfortable. Just farely expensive. (Oh and the TV's are junk, even though you should be doing other things if you are on vacation.)

Area recommendations

I would recommend going down town. It has alot of places to see. There is a theater right across the street from the Hotel and for a great dinner, go try Galleto's. Not cheap, but it is the best place to eat There is also the Gallo Center for the Arts. I HIGHLY recommend going there.

Getting there

Getting there is very simple. Go 99 to Modesto, take one of the two downtown exits and go left. It is the massive tower with two trees as a logo. You really can't miss it. You can see it from anywhere in Modesto.

What to pack

Unless you plan on going in the middle of winter, I would just do pants and a shirt. Summer, you'll want shorts. Weather is generaly fair. We don't get a ton of rain. No snow obviously. Lots of sun. Just take that into consideration when going. Oh and take something nice to go downtown, especially Galleto's or the Gallo Arts Center.

Shopping

If you go North on highway 99, take the Standiford exit and go right. You'll want to check out the mall. Vintage Fair Mall was recently remodeled, so it is very nice inside. More businesses are moving in, so it would be a good place to stop.

“Not so Modesto hotel”

Got a decent price on a top quality room on the 2nd highest floor of the tallest building in Modesto! Everything great except TV is old style tube (not HD set). Whirlpool bath was fine except shower handle was loose and difficult to operate. Situated right in the heart of downtown Modesto, for what that's worth. Room was a little bit loud due to high wind conditions and the occasional passing freight train blowing its horn.

“Great place to stay!!”

Great hotel.Right where we needed it to be. Great deal, great price.... did not haveto pay for parking. You get the ticket validated. Just a one night stay but it was great. The buffet breakfast was amazing.

“Great Customer Service!”

We encountered a couple of issues where we needed to change rooms and the entire staff was extremely accommodating! If and when we visit Modesto again we are definately staying at the DoubleTree!!!

“Hey Modesto your not all that”

Upon check in I was informed that the parking fee was either 7 dollars or 13 dollars,no exceptions I had to pay for one or the other.Asked if there was breakfast,she said yes right through there,I said great does it come with the room?Just got a no it does not.Another friend stayed at the same hotel,same night was offered a 2 for 15 dollar special.For 110 dollars they should include breakfast and parking.Also the television in the room was a piece of crap old tube type,Ihad to go elsewhere to watch the playoffs.I wonder if they if they ever stayed in other hotels that have flat screen tv,free buffet breakfast and plenty of parking,Iguess not.My first time to modesto and hopefully my last,it is a hole and I picked what I thought was a nice hotel,but for the money it was a major letdown.

“Modesto Business Trip - Great Hospital”

The hotel was very comfortable and clean.

My husband and I were here on a business trip in Modest for the day, and had not planned on spending the night. It turned out that he was admitted to the hospital for a couple of days with a blood clot in his calf. The Memorial Hospital was top notch, and we were even impressed with the hospital food.
