“Good place to be for three days. Home away from home.”
Ashbury was a good hotel to be in for three days. It was home away from home. The food served for brekfast was good and a good way to start my day.
“Did Not Feel Safe Staying Here”
I did not feel safe in my room. Closing the door was difficult and so was opening/locking it. It swung open by itself if I didn't slam it. The hotel put up signs that said "We are not responsible for items left in your room if someone breaks in and steals them." They offer "security boxes" at the front desk, but who would want to hand over their laptop to a desk clerk everytime they must step out of the building? The door not closing and locking every time would not have been such a problem if the door did not lead DIRECTLY outside with nothing to keep strangers wandering in off the street. I was not warned that my front door would lead outside like that, so had to walk through the cold to get back after swimming. I was also initially drawn by the promise of the indoor heated pool, but saddened to find it was lukewarm and left me shivering even while actively swimming. Not a good pool to use unless it's a hot summer day (and doesn't that defeat the point?) Furthermore the pool was not in a sealed room where the warmth from the water would be kept in. Who wants a lukewarm pool in an air conditioned room? The rooms were well stocked, but with scratchy, small towels and a shampoo/conditioner hybrid that left my hair dry. The coffee boasted of the best flavor but the actual taste was literally hard to swallow. Pros: clean bed. Friendly staff. It did not smell bad in my room. Bottom line: if you must stay, USE EXPEDIA and opt for a DELUXE.
“Ashbury Mobile 09/20-22/11”
Rooms were clean and quiet. The only thing that needed attention was the A/C unit - it would get to a certain temp and then the on/off switch would activate / deactivate repeatedly in rapid succession. Very irritating in the middle of the night.
“Will use it again”
I did not like being on the back of the Hotel. A female all along on the back of the building. Hotel was close enough for me to attend a conference at South Alabama College.
“the 3-star rating is appropiate for this hotel”
Maid service came too early in the morning (9:00 a.m.). Maid service was none existant on my 3rd of 4 days in my room.
“Old rooms”
My daughter was graduating from Spring Hill College and so I wanted to stay near the campus, and the Ashbury was nearby. When we checked in, the hotel was empty and I was not given an inside room, but rather one in the back and outside. On top of that they put the other guests who came in (about a dozen motorcyclists) right next door. Not spread apart. The room was very old and in dire need of repairs. Also, there was minimal water pressure and the water really never did get hot, so our showers weren't relaxing. I did like the fact that there was a microwave and mini refrig in the room but that's about ALL that I liked about this hotel. I will NOT be returning.
“Mobile”
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Indoor pool a great plus.
“The best hotel for the price.”
This hotel was better than I thought. For the price we paid I was expecting something more ran down. If you want a good place to stay for a good price. You should stay here. I know next time we are in mobile al, I will be staying here. Oh they keep the rooms very clean.
“Had to go for business”
Decent somewhat older place, furniture is ready for updating. Access from highway was very easy though back onto highway in the morning was delayed by one long traffic light everyday. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Only 1 washer/dryer worked, 1 each did not, roulette. Was in town for 5 nights and got what I expected pretty much. Only real gripe was their sign out front advertising rooms for cheaper then my expedia rate, disappointing. Would go back.
“Don't let them stick you out in the cheap rooms”
We have stayed here several times, the last stay we were given a room on the back side of the hotel that had a door opening to the outside. The hotel was not particularly full and yet we were placed very close to another guest who was driving a noisy diesel truck that he used to make runs out for food. The room was cramped and small. It had one of those bathrooms that is so small, you can not shut the door without standing in the bathtub. We will not stay at the Ashbury again.
