We stayed at the grand penthouse. Very worth the money! Spectacular views, beach and jungle! We got all inclusive, very high quality foods and drinks. Just one thing, there aren't many options on the menus, specially for room service.
We had a wonderful time at Barcelo. I was worried about the location at first but then realized it was great. It was beautiful there and very tropical. The ocean on one side and mountains on the other three side. The grounds were well kept and very clean. No need to go down town for over priced adventures. The small village next to the hotel has people willing to take you on some of the tours, boat rides and wave runners for a cheaper price. The food was great and the staff were some of the hardest workers that I have ever seen. Everyone was super nice too! The hotel is starting to show its age and the hotel shower sucked. But all in all…We will be back! One tip, take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Much cheaper and Gray Line transportation is really pushy about booking adventures and tours with then. REALLY PUSHY! See you next year Barcelo!
Villa Lala is a beautiful place away from the hustle and bussle of the city. The hosts pampered us and made us feel very welcome. The food was very good. Suggestion: need a menu with prices beforehand instead of a random bill at the end of your stay for meals and wine. Since they don't take credit cards, we were glad we had enough cash on us. Despite the 45 minute (with no traffic) $40 taxi to the airport, it was still a wonderful experience.
We had a great stay at Mismaloya Hotel Suites. Wonderful staff, great activities all around us. Bus services every 15 minutes on the minute - better than any in Canada or U.S. PV short bus ride away. Lots to do, or as little as you want. Fabulous pool. Town of Mismaloya has some great restaurants, and offers all foods that we required. Away from the hustle of large city, and very unique setting.
Check in: We were given room key on 7th floor, when opened room door there was a guy sleeping, room was taken...it was very embarrassing. It took another 30 minutes for reception to get us a room key, this one was on 2nd floor and view was not very good, we had the restaurant roof as partial view.
Room is large, and comfortable. Bathroom could use some upgrading and more cleaning.
Restaurant buffet was good, open grill to order was nice addition.
Nice pool & pool bar. Bartender was a lot of fun and helpful.
We did not pay for All Inclusive, yet drinks were generic brand as if we were AI...disappointing paying full price for generic stuff.
Nice private beach, but you had to wait forever to get an umbrella and beds if they were not already there.
Far from town, can't walk into town, it is about a 15 minute cab ride.
good rate, quiet hotel not alot of guests. easy to find and friendly staff.
endless pool needed more water, no coffee maker in the rooms. could use a thorough clean in the rooms. a bit musty and mildewy wouldn't recommend it for anyone with asthma.
great view. if you're an independent traveller that doesn't need the amenities of a hotel and spend most of your time adventuring this hotel is for you. on the highway between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo so a great spot to start from if you're exploring the southern Jalisco coast.
I would stay again.
A smoldering, behind-the-scenes affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton put Puerto Vallarta on the tourist map. Burton was on location in Mismaloya for John Huston’s 1964 film, The Night of the Iguana. Today, visitors can see the ruins of the film site in the hills above town. Mismaloya remains a small town where beachside huts serve the catch of the day with cold cerveza (beer).)
