I ended up booking a room in this hotel because everything else in the Brookfield area was booked to to Summerfest.
This seems to be a place of construction contractors stay overnight, the parking lot was full of trucks. They start very early so between 4am and 5:30 am there was a constant buzz of engines getting started, revved up and what not.
Unpleasant odor in the hallway and in the room, something that's probably been in the carpet for quite a while. If you keep the windows open then it's noisy, if you close them, then you have to take in the smell.
There were no glasses/plastic cups in the room so I had to go downstairs and get some from the bar.
There is no real table in the room, just a table top that you need to flip open from its regular position, flush against the wall. Only one chair in the room and kind of shaky.
Wireless Internet worked well.
we got the suite this time as our daughter stayed with us and we needed extra bed. the beds are really comfy and we sleep very very well so we tend to single out this hotel when we come to this part of the state.
Awesome hotel with an even more awesome history! Wish we could have stayed more than 1 night. Resturant in hotel was great as well. At the time we were there the only thing I could possibly complain about would be the noise from the roadwork outside. But really can't complain about that because the brick/cobblestone road is just going to add to the ambiance of the area!
This is the second time I have stayed at the Astor and it works very well for me. It is walking distance to a lot of things and I like to walk, etc. You can also park a car very comfortably behind the hotel. Staff great, room great, etc.
Hotel under renovation to become a Holiday Inn. Didn't bother us at all. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was great and reasonable. Our view of the river was awesome at breakfast. I would bet once construction is done it will really be nice. Pool was really tiny - no jacuzzi. May be part of renovations. We were told work will be done in 2015.
