If you stay here, avoid staying on the ground floor, especially rooms 2, 7 and 8. They are very close to the front desk, which is noisy late into the night. The breakfast room is right there, too, and the clanging and banging of the espresso machine gets going early. Also, the hotel is on a busy road, so there is traffic going by constantly. This a 2-star spot, so manage expectations accordingly. Plastic cups are provided, but if you use one, it will not be replaced. Conversely, bars of soap are fairly thrown at you, even if you only use one a few times. The area is slightly sketchy, so keep your wits about you. Milano Centrale is easy walking distance (maybe 10 mins.), though, so it is convenient if you are taking trains.

Not very comfortable; tiniest shower ever!
Felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Milan in general is kind of an ugly city. Literally only went to Milan to see da Vinci’s Last Supper. We were out of there after that. Only stayed one night.

Friendly hosts, nice terrace in back
Overall great stay at Salerno, room was basic but it had everything we needed for a couple of nights in Milan. Hosts are friendly, breakfast consisted of choice of coffee/tea, one pastry and toast, just enough to get you going. 9 min walk to Centrale.

Hotel 10 minutes walk from train station, very clean, breakfast was good, they made us a very good cappuccino... overall great place and location. Shower is a little small

The room wasn't fancy, but it was comfortable enough. The staff were helpful and let us leave our luggage before check-in and after check-out. Breakfast was good.I would consider staying here again if I visit Milan in the future.

Joey Salerno, very recommended!
The hotel is in a very convenient area, walking distance from the Train Station (Milano Centrale)! The staff is extremely nice and trustworthy! Mario from reception was Amazing, and gave us directions to all places we requested! The Metro station is near by and only 4 stops to the Duomo! We enjoyed sitting in the hotel lovely back yard in which you also eat a magnificent breakfast! Very recommended!

In the area of Corso Buenos Aires, 20 minutes of slow walk from Central Station (count dragging the luggage in!), nice rooms, clean and spacious, friendly staff, 24 hours reception, good choice of TV channels, air condition was great.

This was a great hotel for an affordable stop-over in Milan. The reception area and staircases are beautiful, and that really helps set the tone. The room is very standard for Milan. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. I like the early check-in and the reasonable check-out hour. I have to stay for a night in Milan about monthly, and for the price, I would keep coming back to Hotel Salerno.

Nice Staff, Don't Buy the Breakfast
The location was good, but when we got to the hotel we wondered "Is this what over a hundred bucks a night gets you in Milan?" Maybe it is. The room was small and outdated. There appeared, at first, not to be a window, but there was one, down the hallway next to the tiny bathroom. It was quite loud - you could hear everyone coming and going up and down the stairs. No fridge. And don't buy breakfast, unless you like buns in a bag. Buy coffee elsewhere.

Hotel in the heart of Milan
We walked from the train station- it was a bit farther than we anticipated. The closer we got we started seeing graffiti and wondered. However we felt safe and people were helpful in directing us to the hotel. The lobby and hotel were nice - plenty of marble and well kept. The room was nice and clean. There was a lot of street noise and were concerned about how that would be for sleeping. Magically it all goes away. There must be a noise curfew. The breakfast room was well supplied in the morning and just what we needed before our train trip to Sorento.

Although it is close to the train station, with our bags we took a taxi and it cost 10 euros coming and 9 euros going. The hotel is not handicap accessible. They assigned us a room with the least amount of steps, and every staff person except one always assisted me up and down them. The breakfast is held down two flights of stairs. After the first day, my husband brought me back a tray. The bathroom was very small; difficult for a handicapped person.

Italy vs Spain
Pleasant check-in. Everybody was watching the European Championship, and Italy was playing! That about sums it up...... Fortunately they beat Spain, so the whole country was happy! The guy at the desk was very pleasant.... a big soccer/football fan! We only stayed one night and left early in the morning to catch a train. Unfortunately we missed breakfast.....

One night in Milan.
We stayed in May for one night prior to joining a cruise in Genoa. It suited us well as we flew in from Dubai and trains from the airport and to Genoa were easy. It also gave us a chance to have a look at the old cathedral district of Milan.

Great place for short trip on budget
Great hotel. Perfect for travellers who spend most of the day exploring the city. Location is perfect. Bus stop right in front of the hotel. Two subway stops, both 5 mins away. Also train and bus terminal is 5 minutes away as well. Main casual shopping street is also 5 minutes away. Hotel is nice and clean. Everyone is friendly and ready to help. I enjoyed my stay.
