“Overall satisfactory”
This hotrl was withing walking distance of the Duomo and all majot attractions. Th e room was quiet and fairly spacious , good hot water , quiet, however even with 4 degrees outside and the airconditioning turned off we found it overheated [and we live in the tropics!]Windows were double glazed and very quiet. The lift was tiny and unreliable, seeming to go in the wrong direction or close before we could get out/Carrying only 4 persons the 2 lifts did not cope at busy times with long waits The breakfast was good ,with lovely individually made to order cappuchinos, which we really appreciated after other hotels dreadul tepid stale bulk coffee urns.Staff very hepful. It was good value for money. We were surprise dto find a tiny kitchenette with 2 hotplates but not mush cooking equipment and we had to call for cups adn wine glasses which arrived promptly. [We bough t take-aways from an Indian /Kebab shop 100 metres away which was lovely , adn much cheaper than the nearby restaurants which tended to be expensive.Wifi was good to have. We staed 22 November for 2 nights. It wa sgood value for money
“So So”
Hotel appeared to be in the process of badly needed renovations. The furniture in our rooms was IKEAesque. Our triple room was huge, actually a suite with a double in one room, two twins in another and the bathroom between the two. Room sizes were good, breakfast ok, staff ok. Nothing particularly outstanding.
“room needs repairs and no assistance after hours”
The hotel itself was a good location for the Milan cathederal, received directions from friendly staff. The hotel was decorately nicely and the breakfast was fine. However, our airconditioner was blowing hot air. That was fixed. Then our toilet would not flush. The bellhop who fixed our ariconditioner was less successful with the toilet. He saide there were no other available rooms and we would have to wait until the next day to move. I insisted he continue to try to fix the toilet and after jiggling a few more cranks in the wall it finally worked. At 9:30 pm I decided my bed was too hard and walked done to the main desk and asked for an extra blanket that I could fold over to sleep on. I was told the bellhop had gone home and no one could hlep me. VERY DISAPPOINTED I returned to my room.
“hotel like helll, don´t go”
unpolite personal, the shower nog was broken fixed with a screw, very dangerous if you fall in the shower.... you already know what is going to happen. The room was stinky, and the walls had marks of umidity. the towels were stained. The internet didn´t work a single time, personel always giving silly answers and being very unpolite. the elevator didn´t work well, closing the door when you are still going inside, another "trap" of this "hotel"... The breakfast was out of a lot of things, glasses, tables, sausages, and go on.... Our experience were terrible. I really don´t recommend. Thanks God it was only 1 night...
“So-so”
A solid 10+ min walk to the Duomo - not 5. Trust me, I walk fast. Positive notes: Staff was very friendly, spoke English, and gave a good restaurant recommendation. There is free wifi in the lobby as well as a general use computer. There was a great breakfast selection. Negatives: Not much around the immediate hotel area. I didn't like the tiny elevator or the carpeting. I particularly hated the scented whatever that was in the room and closet. It gave me a headache & made me wonder what smell they were trying to cover up. Also not tickled about the tiny kitchenette in my room. I don't like them b/c I don't want to think about leftover crumbs which bring bugs (which, of course I didn't see or I'd be freaking out). The bathroom may be the only one in Italy without marble floors / walls. It wasn't bad, I just have difficulty believing there isn't a better one for the price.
“AWESOME Hotel and Staff!”
Probably the best hotel I have ever experienced in a European country. The staff was extremely helpful, and I even witnessed one of the staff give a guest 10 Euro for an item they "MAY" have left in their room after check out just to ensure they were satisfied. HIGHLY recommend this hotel to business or pleasure travelers to Milan!
“Hotel Romana- Milan”
Nice location, close to metro line that takes you directly to Duomo and Central station. Included breakfast, and it was wonderful including the cappuccino! Quiet and clean, a great place to stay.
“Unexciting sound value, convenient location, would award 3.5 stars if I could”
I mark hotels fairly harshly i.e. 5 stars really has to be exceptional and I can't wait to go back, & 4 stars is excellent with few if any flaws but maybe just not distinctive enough for the top score. So my title attempts to offset the 3 star type marking, as this is basically a very satisfactory hotel at a reasonable price for the city. It's got so-so but entirely adequate rooms, fairly spacious, and with enough double glazing to cut out most of the tram and other traffic sounds at night - a frequent issue with Italian city hotels, so a relief not to have much of a problem here. The mention of trams confirms that the hotel is very handy for transport, metro too. The Romana Residence is just on the edge of the central zone of Milan - I think we walked to the Duomo in about 15 minutes or it's two metro stops. The area is perfectly safe & tidy - mixed offices & apartments, near a big hospital. No worries walking back at night. There are several restaurants nearby that look OK, and the one we tried was much better than just OK (Calimero just down the arcade next to the hotel, & with posters in the hotel lifts - the hotel doesn't have its own restaurant). Milan is pretty expensive for hotels especially at weekends during opera season - as expected - so this is a safe choice. I would stay somewhere more expensive if I could, just for a bit more character and an even more central location, but if funds don't stretch, the Romana Residence is more than good enough.
“Great location, spacious room BUT some lowpoints as well”
Great location, next to a metro station and a stroll away from Duomo and city centre. It was really convenient given that I had my daughter in a pushchair and still managed to walk about Milan! The room was very spacious, with a small kitchen and a nice baby cot. However, there was a lot of street noise (due to the tram that stops right outside) and the pillows and mattress smelled foul. The fact that you actually had to pay for room WiFi was no good either. There was also a narrow elevator and it was always a struggle to fit the pushchair through the doors. Breakfast was OK if you had a really sweet tooth
“Good hotel, but better locations available”
Superb room - massive. Location is ok, about 15 mins walk to Piazza Duomo. Small kitchen in suite, friendly staff, great breakfast, great price. If you want to use the small kitchen, the nearest supermarkets seem to be on the Via Torino, about 20 mins away
