“convenient location in Milan”
from the airport by Malpensa Shuttle to the central train station and then a short walk to this hotel--very convenient; room simple but adequate--small refrigerator was an unexpected plus; great location near the central train station and Metro stop so local sightseeing easy
“Don't recommend”
Worst stiff bed of the trip. "Double bed" was 2 beds pushed together, of different heights- NOT a double bed. When you sat at one end the other corner shot straight up like a board. Practically an inch of pillow. The room was tiny, peeling paint, warnings all over about not leaving valuables in the room- and our safe had been broken. Just very crummy and dank for what we were expecting. Don't believe the pictures, this is not a nice hotel and that's from a backpacker who's used to hostels.
“Old bones”
Literally walking distance from the main train station, which is also where you catch shuttle bus/es to the airports. Excellent location. Pretty dingy looking inside and out. Is definitely due for a major remodel, if not total gutting. There were salesman with floor and carpet samples there when we checked in. Needs a major infusion of $$ to be saved. Room was clean and a/c worked.
“A Good Stop Over”
Not what I expected but was perfect for a one night stop over.
“Walking distance to station”
Huge room and huge comfortable bed. Quiet room facing courtyard. Small breakfast room but nice food.
“Not Impressed”
It's so so should be just 2 stars
“Not impressed”
The reception upon arriving at the hotel was, as already mentioned, very unwelcoming. The reception staff were not very helpful apart from one older gentleman, and in fact I had a strong impression our nationality was the main issue as Italian speakers appeared to be being treated as one would expect to be treated in a hotel, curteously and with smiles. I felt there was a sneering attitude to us when we spoke in English. When I asked any questions of the reception staff they acted as if I had beamed down from Mars and was speaking in some strange alien language. The staff on duty in the breakfast room were initially standoffish too, but after about the third day they began to be much more friendly, however I put that down to the fact that I initiated this situation by being very friendly toward them and always greeted them and thanked them in Italian. I do not think a hotel guest should need to find themself in this situation. I have to point out I made no single complaint during my stay so gave them no reason to treat me in this way. It would have taken very little to have made me a happy customer. A smile and a bit of helpfulness when we first arrived and common politeness when we handed the keys in and collected them would have sufficed. Instead the general attitude of the staff helped spoil the holiday in many ways. When you pay good money to stay in someone's establishment you expect at the very least to be treated as a guest.
“No problems!”
Milan was great. Only disappointment was the weather, freezing, but thats what you expect at the time we went (end of december). Overall we didn't encounter any problems. Hotel was a standard 3 star hotel. Only bad thing to it was the pillows were hard! but thats being slightly petty! but overall, a great holiday!
“Would stay there again.”
Great hotel for a short stay. Close to the central station and other transport. Good restaurants nearby. The only downside was quite small room for two people.
“Mennini-you know your not in Kansas”
Well, we went to Europe to feel like we were in Europe and Hotel Mennini fit the bill. I liked the stair case. I enjoyed the balcony overlooking the intesection of 6 streets. The continental breakfast was not Bob Evans but we did enjoy it; brown hard Why did I choose Mennini to begin with. It had balconies! And one could watch the people rolling suitcases 24hrs a day to and from the train station. We enjoyed the cafe in front of the hotel for a beer or wine or hot tea or food. It is one block walk from the Hotel to the Subway and train station. Want to save a little money on food? There is a Supermarket one (maybe 2) blocks south of the hotel. By some cheese, crackers etc. and keep it in the Mini Bar fridge. The room was cleaned daily. We had plenty of fresh towels daily(3 sizes), but did get any wash cloths, must be a Euopean thing. Yes, some reviews say it is not in the best of neighborhoods. Howver, every large city in America has a neighborhod or 2 or 3 that I would not want my grandchildren in in broad daylight. This is not the case with Hotel Meninni. True we were not on the streets at 2 in Morning but there was lots of pedistrian traffic well into the night. I could observe this from my balcony while drinking my coffee from McDonalds (closest thing to American coffee that I could find)
