“not impressed”
Hotel is at best a 3 star rather than 4 star. Hotel was very disappointing, wouldn't go back.
“comfortable hotel”
close to fashion shops in via della spiga and montenapoleone, not far from the duomo in milan centre.
“Not impressed”
This is an old hotel that has delusions of grandeur - in 33 degree sweltering heat we were advised that normal air conditioning temperatutres in Milan are 24 degrees in the room - this was the temperature at the hotel and our bedroom which resulted in 4 nights of lost sleep on what was supposed to be a birthday celebration weekend. The staff just ignored our complaint and given the rate we were paying (exorbitant) I feel this was overall very poor value for money. The rooms are tired, and the facilities overall are minimal. The only good thing going for the hotel is the location which is pretty central.
“Extremely misrepresented online.”
I dont even know where to start. Our room looked nothing like those pictured on the hotels website (it was about 25 years older and smelt weird), the mattresses were awful. The duvets were weirdly lumpy, the pillows were uncomfortable, and half the lightbulbs were out. We were given 2 single beds despite booking and paying for a double, the bathroom that we were assured had a shower, actually only had a handheld shower head... with nowhere to attach it to the wall, so we took turns holding the shower whilst the other person washed. Ridiculous. The hotel restaurant was pretty pitiful (but thats not really that unusual!) and the "lavish breakfast buffet" that was included in our room rate was pathetic. You had to pay extra for coffee (!!!?? in italy!!!) , juice, bacon and eggs. On four separate occasions we were given water glasses that had lipstick on the rim. Because the front desk staff were so unhelpful and dismissive we did not feel we could get anywhere with pursuing a request for a change of room. I went downstairs to do so, only to witness a spectacular argument between one of the staff and another equally unimpressed guest. The guest got nowhere. Not only will I never stay here again, I will post this very review on every hotel reviewing website I can find, and make sure I tell everyone I know NEVER TO STAY HERE. I work in a service industry myself, and so am fairly tolerant and understanding of most things, but this hotel was disgusting.
“Find somewhere else to stay!”
Hotel staff was extremely rude and unfriendly.
“Great location and value”
Stayed for 9 days. Standard room was very large by European standards. No problem finding hotel, just give taxi driver the address. Central Milan and all museums easily walkable. Many high quality restaurants within 20 minute walk. Taxi rank close by, or hotel can call one and it arrives within minutes. Desk people range from business-like to very friendly, but all were helpful. Very charming inner courtyard garden and dining area with indoor/outdoor bar. Hotel in a quiet area across from park. Lobby just starting renovations that should be done by end of 8/11 (they are walling off area to minimize annoyance during construction). Breakfast buffet highly adequate but does not include espresso, cappuccino. One day large group did overwhelm buffet and wiped a lot of it out before we came down late. Mattresses are very firm and comfortable; no sway back in the middle. Wifi access in room works fine and there are multiple plans to choose from for different prices/needs. Nearby restaurants we enjoyed (all in the Michelin guide) were Stendahl (open on Sunday), Malavoglia, Torriani 25. Not in Michelin but recommended by a local waiter, was a pizzeria called Maruzzellla near the Piazza Oberdan (also open Sunday) with wood-fired pizzas and a standard menu as well. Near Duomo, ck 7th floor of Rinascente department store for many affordable restaurants, some with outdoor seating/Duomo views. Milan not as dressy as guide books say; tights jeans a must. Smart casual enuf.
“Best stay in Milano”
I was surprisingly impressed with this hotel. The rooms are relatively spacious, light and very clean. The hotel reception staff were friendly upon a late night check-in and the breakfast was lovely - it has a garden area to sit in (under cover, even if raining). Upon return to Milano I stayed in a different hotel and was disappointed in comparison with Manin (same star rating for both hotels). It is in a terrific location, right next to the historical district. I would definitely stay there again. It is a ten minute taxi ride (c.9-10 euro) from the Station Centrale and Cadora. Easy to get a train in from the airport to Centrale. A very nice stay. The hotel also has a gym but I did not check it out. For runners, it is next to a park.
“Would definitely recommend”
Though a little way out of the centre of Milan, the hotel was well located opposite a lovely park. The staff were helpful and the breakfasts were fine. The room was pleasant (overlooking the park) and the bathroom was spacious. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough to eat outside or try the outdoor bar.
“Average”
This hotel is in a nice location, close to Montenapelone and a 10- 15 minute walk to Duomo Cathedral and La Scala Opera House. Quite a long trek to Santa Maria Della Grazia ( The Last Supper) however, I would recommend a taxi from the hotel, only cost me 8 euro and the taxi service the hotel offer is great. They call the taxi and it arrives usually in less the 5 minutes. Don't bother asking for directions, do some research before and download a map of the area. There are also maps in the reception. Front Reception Staff were not very approachable, perhaps they were not fluent enough in English ( or in my case, not fluent enough in Italian!!??) The hotel breakfast was average, cold scrambled eggs, but great to have something small ( crossoint) and a cup of tea before going out sightseeing for the day. I think they would be well advised to review their breakfast service however. Room was adequate, small mini bar, clean, no english channels on tv apart from mtv, credit card safe, which they should have explained how to use as instructions on wall were wrong and I had to get housekeeping to come up and show me how to use. Bed was very firm. Bathroom a good size. Overall an average hotel.
“Finding a reasonable hotel in Central Milano”
a very decent reasonably priced hotel in very central Milan with all necessary amenities without being gold plated
