“Great Central Location for City Break”

We were pleased with the location and although the room was not huge it was all you need for a city break with all comforts beihg taken care of. The whole hotel was spotless and the breakfast offered a good choice. The pool area was a bit disappointing as it filled up quickly, due to the excellent weather we had. The staff (especially Adrian the concierge) were friendly and polite with the exeption of one or two reception staff who appeared to be standoffish. All in all we would recommend this hotel to others and if we were ever to go back to Milan, we would stay here again

Area recommendations
All the major sights, ie The Duomo, La Scala, Brera Gallery, have a walk along the canals and walk through the small streets. Try the underground ( very clean and easy to use) the trams and see the local sights. Do not be put off if told that tickets for the "The Last Supper" are unavailable as tours will get you in, ask your hotel to book for you. We did find the city very expensive so be prepared to pay over the top if you are in the central area, but outwith is not much cheaper. Tickets for the roof of the Duomo are sold outside at the back and must be purchased before entry. We found it a very beautiful city and although the locals look effortlessly elegant, any tidy dress code is acceptable

“Dangerous swimming pool, beware!”

I am alerting others to the dangers of diving into the so called swimming pool at this hotel. Beware it is not actually a pool, but more like a fish pond. the real problem is that you cannot see the bottom as it is a murky dark green colour and the water is only about 18 inches deep all the way from one end to the other. In other words there is no shallow and deep end. My husband dived in as he usually does without checking the depth, expecting it would be like most swimming pools and have some depth to it, BUT BEWARE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, as it is like a fish pond really. I do not know how they get away with calling this a swimming pool. ALSO there was no signage to warn people of the lack of depth, which we found quite amazing, as all other hotel pools have some sign to indicate the depth. Also disappointing was the small and dirty shower that accompanied the pool. Good supply of clean white towels though. The breakfast was most unappealing, and was the wi fi charge, and we had to go down to front desk to log off to avoid extra charges, as staff could not advise over phone when we could not log out automatically. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location which is great....

“Good hotel”

Location is excellent. Steps from the Duomo, and all shops. Hotel is clean, breakfast is good. The staff is very helpful, and all of them have a service mind attitude. Could not be any better. The room size is small but do-able. Just typical European hotel room size.

Area recommendations
- See the opera at the Scala. Definitely worth it. - Montenapoleon Avenue. Great shops and great price. Go there at 4 to 6 pm and you will see lots of fast exotics car cruising around. Name it, Ferrari, etc, etc... - Rinacenter Department Store. Largest Department Store in Milan. Good price and excellent variety. Lunch there on the 6th floor is some thing that every one must try at least once ie.. good size food court, with all kind of variety and price, and you dine with the view of the Duomo Dome

“Great location”

The Hotel de la Ville is located 100 meters from the Duomo and across the street from a trendy and elegant department store. The metro station is in the plaza where the Duomo is and within 5 minutes from the central train station. Will stay there next time I go to Milan. JLQ

“An excellent choice.”

More than happy with the choice of hotel. Very well situated for all aspects of the city. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good facilities but as it was winter could not take full advantage of the swimming pool area. Would definatly recommend Hotel De La Ville to friends and certainly stay here if we visit Milan again.

“Phenomenal location, great hotel”

We had an overnight stay in Milan at this lovely hotel which was finished in a French classical style (thus the name). The location is amazing. Everything is within walking distance. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and was OK, but nothing extraordinary. Room was lovely, very clean, and very elaborate in its finishings. Enjoyed staying there very much and would recommend to anyone. Good value for money too; the room rate was reasonable.

Traveller's tip
Ristorante Donlisander: insalata caprese and the ossobucco with risotto alla milanese is a must eat. Peck's: must see for what is the best selection of Italian wines in the world. The Last Supper: amazing painting bz Leonardo da Vinci is a must see (but reserve ahead).
