“Little run down but fantastic location!”
Great resturant. Little run down. Dirty floors. Could use more effecient staff. Great location.
“Good from far.... FAR FROM GOOD!”
One person at the desk which is inside their restaurant. Assigned room was not cleaned yet. At 6 pm! ( not early!). Had to come down again. No one at the desk now. Finally tracked down the staff. He got on the two way with other staff. This went on for 5 mins. I told him - wow. This is exactly like what I read in the reviews on various sites. He said - call Expedia and ask them to cancel ! Totally smug and callous. Given my. Business meetings I asked to assign me a different room. He asked for 10 mins. He was kind enough to offer free drinks while I waited. Of course I tipped well I checked in - left for dinner - got back. Tv not working. - staff clueless ! Air conditioning unit too loud - couldn't sleep. Checked out in the morning even though I had a 2 day reservation. One lousy hotel!
“Awesome hotel - great location & food.”
Fantastic hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms, great location, excellent food.
“Lovely room, but soooo noisy”
Good position (close to convention centre) with nicely appointed rooms and a great restaurant, friendly staff. The only problem was the noise - very loud airconditioner that came on every 5 minutes and woke me up repeatedly. Turned off the fan but too hot - between a rock and a hard place. Also the toilet cistern partially refilled every 40 seconds (you measure these things at 2.00 am....)
“Not impressed.”
The first thing we had to do when we got to our room was have someone come clean off the glass of the bathroom door because it had crud on it. There were little tiny bugs crawling all over the sink area of the bathroom 24/7, not sure if they were water bugs or what. The pool was not finished like we were told it would be by the time we got there. Friendly service. Would try somewhere else next time though.
“Read this before you think about staying here! Ripped off on the first night of our honeymoon!”
Booked the room through Expedia. Hotel under massive renovation during our stay. Our room was great though, and the place has a lot of potential. Our stay was actually a very nice night. We left the next day and went to Key West for the next 5 nights of our honeymoon. On a Saturday, I noticed a charge from The Sanctuary Hotel on our bank account. When I called to dispute the charge, I was told their was no manager to speak with, and that I would have to wait until Monday to talk with their accounting department. When I asked what the charge was for, I was told it was for alcohol and sodas in the room. We are modest people, not mini bar people. We brought our own beer. And it was not a sensor type mini bar, so we didn't accidentally nudge anything either. Long story short, they finally admitted an error in their "system", and said the money would be returned in three business days. We made the best of the rest of our honeymoon by slightly tweaking our budget. We are now back home after business day five and the money still hasn't been returned. Still no manager available, still no return phone call from Bianca in accounting, and still not even a hint of a sincere apology. We have now filed a dispute with the Better Business Bureau and have disputed the charge with our bank. Take our advice, Miami looks nice, but drive right on through and spend an extra night in the Keys where people are happy to see other people, not just dollars in their pockets.
“Wouldn't go back!”
We spent 6 nights at the sanctuary and after returning I wish I had read the reviews better. Definitely had a musty smell. Would calss as a 3 star at best. The check in is in the middle of the restaurant. If you look closely the place is actually quite shabby. Small double beds. No rooftop bar or pool (being renovated apparantly). The location was good - close to Lincoln Road but that is about all that was good. Definitely no balconies overlooking a bamboo courtyard either. Really disappointing.
“poorly managed.”
The hotel had made a mistake with our reservation. When we showed up, they were not expecting us. It took more than an hour between myself, the hotel, and expedia to correct the problem. At the end, we did not get any appologies from management. When the check in person told the manager of the mix up, the manager acted like nothing had happened. The rooms were nice, but the mattress needed changing and the couch was dirty. Also, don't expect the concierge to give you any inside tips of where to go, where to eat, where to party, etc.... They could not answer any of my questions. The concierge at the neigbor hotel "Delano" was more helpfull.
“Perfect spot for couples”
The hotel was directly in front of major street repair but that did stop us from having a wonderful time. The hotel's restaurant Ola was divine. A group of friends joined us on our last night for dinner there...everyone was impressed. The staff was extremely gracious and knowledgeable. Best bang for your Buck!
“Look somewhere else”
Too expensive for an OLD hotel.
