Rooms

The five-story Grove Isle Hotel and Spa has 50 guestrooms decorated in a breezy Colonial style, with Spanish tile floors, wooden shutters, and iron-framed beds. All rooms have private balconies with French doors and bay views. Rooms also have lounge areas with loveseats and chairs. Artwork is whimsical and tropically themed, with the accent on images of monkeys and bananas. Italian marble bathrooms have televisions and phone extensions. All rooms are nonsmoking and exit onto open-air hallways.

Guestrooms offer wireless Internet access (surcharge), 42” plasma TVs, CD players, and multi-line phones with voice mail. Amenities include minibars, coffeemakers, hair dryers, in-room safes, bathrobes, and signature Spa Terre bath products.

“Love this place”

“Still wonderful”

Though perhaps a bit dated in the rooms/bathrooms, this is a hotel that I've loved for 20 years. Though it may technically be in Coconut Grove, you may be in a bit of a shock if you are expecting to just walk through the cafes and shops right out of the front door. For that you will need to either drive for 5 minutes or take a beautiful stroll along the bayside for maybe 20 - 30 minutes. However, it is VERY conveniently located, just minutes from the interstate, downtown, Key Biscayne and Coral Gables. It is also centrally located between South Miami and Miami Beach. It's "isle" setting gives it wonderful views and it's quiet and relaxed. And don't be in a hurry to rush off the isle. The outside bar and restuarant are fantastic. The food at Gibraltar was amazing and I found it relaxing to just stay and enjoy the beautiful environment the hotel provides.

Area recommendations

I love Key Biscayne for the beach or just for lunch on the beach. There really isn't much else for tourists to do here but just these two things make it a "must" for me when I visit Miami. It IS about relaxing. I recommend the Ritz Carlton for beachside lunch. There are lots of fantastic restaurants and nightclubs on South Beach but steer clear of Ocean Drive - I was shocked to see how horribly touristy/college frat-like it had become since last I was there 6 years ago. Also, great shops dotted everywhere. Coral Gables has great shopping locations and wonderful restaurants. It's hard to go wrong in this beautiful city that has SO much to offer!

When to go

Spring is the best weather of the year, pretty hot in the direct sun but breezy, and light sweater in the evenings. However, I must warn - the water is pretty cold. No local would even think of getting in the water until at least June. There are many people who do, though, such as Europeans and Northerners who are used to cold water at their beaches. The summers can be scorchers but are best for beach "bums." The fall is also fabulous; the water is still somewhat warm but the beastly heat is starting to wane and the evenings are lovely.

“Romantic 30th Anniversary”

After visiting South Beach, Key West and Marco Island, my husband and I were thrilled when we arrived at Grove Isle for our last 2 days of vacation. Everything we expected and more. Very romantic and the majority of guests were adults. Highly recommend dinner at the Gibraltar and a massage by Angel (or vice versa).

“Unforgettable”

I went there with my 16-year old son from August 10 to the 14th and we both loved it. It was our first trip in Miami and I will certainly go back there. The employees were attentive, the food was great (a little bit expensive) the pool - the view - even the weather was wonderful.

The walking-distance activities mentioned in their website are not that close..... you really need to rent a car!

“beautiful and relaxing”

We had a wonderful 3 night week-end at this hotel. The views was just lovely out of the room. You look right out on Biscayne Bay. Breakfast at the restaurant was delicious. The service throughout the hotel was very pleasant and helpful. There is a good exercise room with windows that look out over the bay. If you don't want to use valet parking, you can park for free at the first parking lot on the right which you see right after going through the gate onto the island. It is a bit of a walk down to the hotel from that lot. The only negative in the room was a noisy air vent right next to the bed. It is a beautiful and relaxing place to spend a week-end.

“Private Getaway”

I loved the overall ambiance at Grove Isle. Although only minutes from downtown Miami it felt a world away. Very relaxing and my room had a beautiful view. The air conditioning was not very cold and the toilet had a little leak but I didn't mind because the overall service was spectaculer and the food was delicious.

“Nice Place, Great Location”
