We needed a place to stay that was close to the airport, reasonably priced, and had a free shuttle. After searching for several hours and not being very happy with the reviews of the many hotels I found; I came across this one. I was not disappointed and would happily stay here again.
The hotel is located very close to 2 Metromover stations. I did not need a car to move myself and my wife all around Miami. The two stations are Knight Center Station and the Riverwalk Station.
I took the Metrorail (bought a 7 day pass for my 6 day stay) to the Government Center Station and transferred to the Metromover to the Knight Center Station. From there it is about 100 yds. to the Hotel. I was able to go to Bayside, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables from the Hotel using the public transportation.
There are some shops close to the Hotel that are within walking distance such as Macy's, Marshalls, Walgreens, CVS and many restaurants and small shops. Most of them close early; around 6 pm but there are plenty that stay open until late.
The hotel was perfect for what I needed. Downtown and within easy reach of my planned business meetings. The hotel staff were excellent and very helpful. Spencer who works behind the bar in Area 31 was superb! Not only able to provide a great Vodka Martini but also recommend the right food from the menu.
All in all a great place to stay.
Just needs to look at re-furbishment of some parts ot the hotel which were looking a little tired.
Otherwise - will be back in the Spring!
We had experienced a bad travel day and was discussing with the desk clerk upon our arrival. She graciously offered us a free upgrade to a suite. Wonderful customer service, beautiful, clean facility. It would be nice if they offered transportation to the port.
