“Quirky Retrofit”
Great place - the fact that it used to be the American embassy adds character and a touch of class.
“Good hotel but needs more attention”
My 3rd visit here. Arguably the most beautiful architecture of any hotel in Mexico City, Excellent locationh on famous Reforma Avenue. Elegant. Very large, spacous rooms, Marble baths. But has some drawbaks. No clocks in rooms. No English speaking news. Needs CNN or Fox News. Some of the bathtubs are very small(unless you are under 5 ft tall) Mainteneance is lacking and one questions to what degree Management is involved or cares.Need (free) Gideon bibles in rooms. One day I asked for my room to be made right away, but 4 hours later still not done..Oh well...I will return ,however
“Good Value”
Convenient location, minutes from airport in a cab & walking distance to Zocalo. Staff was very helpful even though they spoke only a little English. Beds and room were clean but older, no sign of bugs. The restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. Did not try the Cafeteria but it looked affordable and clean. I plan to make it my first choice when in Mexico City.
“Great staff in a great location”
The Imperial has an impressive lobby and two good restaurants. Though a colonial style building, most of the bedrooms are going through upgrading so that they are modern simple and clean. In the process the charm of older rooms has been traded for convenience but don´t expect luxury. For example, the bar for hanging clothes was missing (as were the clothes hangars). On the plus side internet was free which we have often had to pay for in more expensive hotels. Finally, museums and the colonial heart of the city are a short walk away. The staff are friendly and helpful We will return!
“disappointed”
nothing good to say about this hotel.
“Good Value, Decent location”
Historic place with lots of character and in an okay location, could have been closer to a metro station, but otherwise good. Just 10 minute walk from the Zona Rosa.
“will return on next trip to Mexico”
The location is the best....the hotel is older and the A/C is a little weak and the beds are very firm, but the location, service and price will bring me back
“Hope I go back!”
This is a great hotel! The staff is awake 24/7, the hotel has 2 restaurants and a spa (right next to the OXXO convenience store) The rooms are very nice and the cafeteria has the best food in the area (even better and a lot cheaper than Sanborns)
“a gem in midtown”
The Hotel Imperial is a stately historic building very well centrally located in the Reforma Avenue area. It houses a magnificent restaurant with excellent service and cuisine. I have been staying at this hotel for over 20 years, and much prefer it to other more expensive and newer chain hotels that are much more impersonal.
“Nice hotel, great location”
The Imperial Reforma is right on the Paseo de la Reforma about midway between the Centro Historico and Zona Rosa. It looks like a once grand hotel that may have seen its best days but is still in good shape and great value for the money (I've stayed there twice and not paid the rack rate, but good prices available on the internet. In this case an Expedia coupon took my two night price down to double figures - can't quote prices in reviews so it says). Only minor complaint is the beds are pretty hard but I've never seen any other kind in Mexico. There's a restaurant in the hotel which I didn't use but the breakfast buffet looked very good.
