The hotel was an excellent choice for us. The rooms were a decent size and the bed comfortable. The fact it has free breakfast is a real bonus. The buffet breakfast catered for all requirements from salad to bacon and eggs. There were 4 of us travelling and we all thought the location was ideal as opposed to staying in Venice proper as while we were walking around there, we noticed that you needed a porter to carry your bags or drag them over the cobbled narrow streets yourself. Porters were available with trolleys but I don't know at what price.
The hotel is located opposite the Mestre railway station and is very easy and quick to get into Venice and just walk around. Tickets are available from reception and were only 1.25 Euros each way. We also took a train trip to Padua which is only 20mins away. The train station has a McDonalds for those who are interested as well as other snack and coffee shops.
We walked a few blocks up the road and had dinner at a local pizza place the first night. The hotel has an upmarket restaurant and a Bistro which is reasonably priced. We ate at the Bistro on our second night there and the food was very good.
The hotel seemed to be very busy while we were there.

Two nights in Mestre for a family of 6 in 2 connected rooms. 1 small room with double bed, 1 larger room with 2 singles and a double for the kids. Reasonably priced for a clean and new looking hotel. Great bathrooms, lots of hot water. Very nice breakfast, included in price. No real cooking facilities, but we wanted to taste the local cuisine anyway. Easy to get to Venice (5 min walk to bus stop, 15-20 min bus ride). Hotel staff explained travel options to get to Venice, including maps, very useful. Car park available for us at the front of the hotel at no extra cost. Not sure what there is to see in Mestre, Venice was the reason for our stay - spent all day and night in Venice. Would highly recommend it, would definitely stay there again.
Stayed 4 nights in Mestre-Venice...plenty of time to visit Venice, Murano, Burano & Torcello! If you don't rent a car you have the 4L bus across the street that takes you to Piazzale Roma in 12 minutes...then you take a busboat (vaporetto) to the canals of Venice!!! Best deal is right at the Hotel lobby - 35Euros for 72 hours /person! That includes all transportation. Down the street you have a mini super market with everything you need called Pam. If you want a bigger super market go further down across the street called Billo. On the same side you have a nice shoe store, pastry shop and more!!! Keep on walking passed the Pam at the corner there's a caffe' called SNACK BAR - excellent service! Continue down the street and turn right on Roma - great homemade food called Da Carla - owner Enzo welcomes you in!!! If you want a department store go all the way do the end of Corso del Popolo, turn left and you will have COIN!!! IN Venice, stay away from the touristy looking caffe's with the terrace...food is prepared in a hurry and it's expensive! All gondola rides are 80Euros so split the ride (35 minutes) with another couple...you need someone to take pictures of you anyways!!!!

Plenty of free parking spaces (off season), easy to get to from the airport so able to ease gently into an Italian driving style.
Reception gave plenty of printed information/maps for the bus into venice (about 25 min and just around the corner) - don't forget to validate the ticket on the bus.
Despite previous reviews thought the breakfast was very good.
