“Little Gem”

A charming hotel well run and well maintained. For those who want a quiet relaxing hotel this is a good place to be. The hotel is clean, the swimming pool and beach are well kept and the restaurant is good.

“4* Hotel”

We enjoyed our stay at this Hotel, but you need to book a room facing the beach for the better outlook. The approach to the Hotel is not very attractive and there is some building work at the rear outside the Hotel boundary. However, we were not inconvenienced by any noise. Nicola the receptionist was very helpful and could speak English.

“Wonderful Hotel”

Although from the outside the hotel looks a bit run down (as we pulled in we both thought "oh no"), the hotel is great!! The rooms are basic, but they are very clean, comfy and perfect for a beach hotel. The bathroom had a great shower, nice big mirror and was made getting cleaned up from the beach a delight. The best thing about this hotel is the location and it's private beach. The public beach is crowded and you have to pay a daily fee to use the loungers and umbrellas. But the hotel's beach was never crowded and was very peaceful. Although pebbly, it's beautiful clear blue waters made up for that. In terms of room condition it's probably not a 4 star, but in terms of location and satisfaction it more than makes up for what it lacks.

“Not a very Italian experience”

We stayed for 4 nights in late May 2008. We had a 'superior room' which had a balcony and a sea view - I would recommend taking a superior room as the view from the back is not particularly inspiring (other apartment blocks/hills). Our room was clean and everything you would expect from a Mediterranean beach-type hotel - i.e. no luxuries but serves the purpose. The hotel's food is it's worst asset: breakfast was pretty awful - the usual uninspiring fare served up for tourists. Although we were in Italy, the coffee came out of a vending machine and didn't actually taste like coffee. We tried the hotel restaurant one evening but it was very disappointing - it is worth the 10 minute walk into Letojanni each evening to find a better restaurant. The hotel has a pool with loungers set out around it - would have been better with the addition of a facility to buy drinks and small snacks. The beach below is really too pebbly to sit on and the sea was quite rough while we were there. The bus to Taormina goes almost every hour and only takes about 20 minutes. Letojanni itself is not large or worth spending lots of time in, but it has a small attractive central piazza and a good long promenade along the seafront to walk off all that pizza. All in all, if you don't mind rubbing shoulders with a slightly more mature crowd of German tourists, this may be the place for you. We were looking for something a bit more authentic and with an Italian feel.

“Very disappointing. This is NOT a 4 star hotel.”

My husband and I booked four 4 star hotels during our stay in Sicily. While the other three came up to our expectations, this hotel most certainly did not. It was very basic. The furnishings were cheap and shoddy - one bedside light was held together with plaster. The air conditioning was ineffective and we were not able to control it ourselves, so nights were very uncomfortable. The staff spoke little or no English (not uncommon in Sicily we found). We were given a bedroom with no balcony, facing a motorway and a building site. There was no room service or mini bar so we had to make sure we got water etc from the bar each night. The fabric of the building was in a poor state of repair, and cheap fixtures and fittings were in need of repair. There were no cushions for the pool-side and beach loungers so you had to lie on hard plastic. The pool was small and basic, surrounding 'garden' poorly attended, but the private beach was nice, not over-crowded and was clean. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, but bedlinen was a poor quality, the curtains were thin and hanging off the rail. The was absolutely mo luxury element to this hotel whatsoever. We only had bar snacks, which were no more than adequate, and breakfast was average. We chose to eat out in the evenings. We woud definitely discourage anyone who is expecting a 4 star luxury hotel to avoid this one.
