“Great location”
Stayed here for 5nights,very good breakfasts, good clean rooms all with views of water and coastline from own balcony. Super pool with excellent attendant, hotel staff spoke English and were helpful with requests. Slight niggles were rather thin Walls between rooms! Not good for two nights with a man who coughed continually! Also thin hedge separating balconies so not entirely private. Hotel decor was a bit sparse and modern, would benefit from some pictures on Walls but all in all we were very satisfied. Located very close to shops and restaurants but hotel was down a rather steep drive, not ideal if you have a baby buggy or not too nimble, on plus side meant hotel nice and quiet with no traffic. Had glass lift which was a novelty too.
“Beautiful view and superb location”
Had a lovely time - staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside is the steep footpath leading to the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone with walking difficulties. But this was more than compensated for by the wonderful view from the balcony.
“Great place, steep walk out!”
Friendly and helpful staff. Good pool and pool area. Great views from room and great food. The hotel worked out it was my birthday from my passport and we were left a bottle of fizz in our room - very nice touch. It's a steep walk out of the hotel, but worth the trouble (and a good way to get fit!)
“Clean Modern Hotel”
The hotel was in a nice quiet neighborhood, balconies overlooking the water. It was very close to the main street (Corso), restaurants, gelato, Greek Theater, (next door to the) gardens. 15 minute walk to the bus terminal. To reach the hotel, you have to walk down a ramp/stairs that is fine going down, going up may be an issue if you are not used to climbing stairs. I am not used to climbing stairs and was 5 months pregnant. I got used to it after a day or two. It is a good warm-up since you walk everywhere in Taormina. We were there 6/27 to 7/2, 2010. The front desk offered beach excursions that included transportation, beach chairs, and umbrella for 10 euro pp. We went to the Paradise Beach Club. Do not go, it is not worth it. There is a pool there, but the one at Monte Tauro is nicer (and more convenient) There was no sand, it was all rocks (extremely hot and sharp, you cannot walk barefoot). The rocks in the water were slippery, so you need water shoes. It is better to take the cable car down to the beach by Isola Bella. Same issues with the rocks, you need water shoes, but it is a much nicer beach atmosphere than PBC. We rented 2 chairs and an umbrella for 15 euro. Don't forget beach towels. We asked the beach attendant and he brought us a couple towels from the hotel and we tipped him 3 euro. Taormina was such a nice town. We were there 5 nights and just wandered the small streets and found new places to eat, walked the main street each night.
“Well Situated”
The hotel Monte Tauro is in an excellent position close to plenty of restaurants and bars, every room has a sea view. The swimming pool was always clean and we were always able to get a sunbed at any time of the day. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide choice, we ate dinner in the restaurant on one occasion, the service and food were good.I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
“monte tauro hotel”

“Hotel Monte Tauro - Taormina”

Area:
Taormina, Italy: A balcony setting on Mount Tauro with a sweeping view of Sicilys coastline and Mount Etna gives Taormina its lasting appeal. It is Sicilys only truly international resort, much-favoured by celebrities. The old quarters steep, narrow alleys are filled with window boxes and painted pottery, and best explored on foot. Main sights are the classical remains and Renaissance palaces. The Greco-Roman theatre is still used for concerts and festivals.
