“5 star hotel - 5 star service”

From the time we arrived, untill the moment we left, the staff we absolutley brilliant. They went out of thier way to know our names, where we were from, and always greeted us as friends as wel las guests. Our room was very comfortable, and the house cleaning staff came twice a day to check if we needed anything. The food in the resteraunt was very good as you would expect from a Michelin star establishment. Breakfast is on the terrace, is buffet style and of the highest standard. My only concern was that the coffee in Sicily is not as good as the coffee in Rome or Florence. All the same I'd go back in a flash. I loved it. Check the internet on the amazing history of Taormina before you go, it will completely change the way you think about this island.

Area recommendations
Taormina is a fairly compact town. You could easily spend 3 or 4 days checking out the various "highlights" of Taormina. Because this place has been invaded by just about every known race they have left behind incredible history to admire and wonder about. Just as an example, the Roman Theatre has 3 different styles of architecture which has you wondering what has gone on in this place. Even the Druids and the Arab nations have left thier mark on Sicily. Don't miss this place, it really is worth a visit.
When to go
We came in mid October, not too hot not too cold, just very comfortable.

“Great location, quiet and could walk through a little lane from hotel to the town. Lovely views.”

Being January we did not use the pool but we loved our environment and the township and wonderful lovely restaurants to discover. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent and the staff very nice. We had one dinner at the hotel which was superb.

Area recommendations
The area is wonderful. We loved Sicily, the food, the people and accommodation. We would certainly recommend this island to tour and discover, the main areas, we discovered, which are a must to see are...Erice, Agrigento, Siracusa and Taormina. Wine and food is very reasonable and even the Italians on the "mainland" rate the food on Sicily.
Getting there
Either fly into Palermo or Catania and the best way to get around is by vehicle, shopping is average, save your money for Rome. Lovely beaches, history and scenery. Dining is very inexpensive if you look around and seek out "local" restaurants. Having travelled for two months throughout Europe we would highly recommend this island.

“Good hotel, maybe a bit not 5 star”

My husband and I stayed in the hotel for 5 nights. The service was great. However, I will not rate this hotel as a 5 star hotel. It has not been refurbished for a while. There is not much to choose from at breakfast. I am usually not the one to complain about food though. The location is great. There is a private beach but you have to go by shuttle and it takes 10 minutes. The shuttle leaves at 10, 11 and 12 in the morning. There is no sauna at the hotel.

“Taormina's Best”

Our stay at the San Pietro in Taormina was one of our very best vacations ever. The hotel is located at the bottom of Taormina -- away from the busy city center. We enjoyed the walk up the stairs to town, but also used the complementary shuttle on occasion. The breakfast buffet offers something for everyone. The outside seating makes it even more enjoyable. We relaxed at the pool where Dario makes sure everyone is comfortable. We cannot say enough about this hotel and its staff -- by the time we left we knew them all. Don't look any further -- if you want a relaxing vacation in a beautiful setting the San Pietro is the place to stay in Taormina.

Area recommendations
Don't miss a chance to dine at Gambero Rosso -- up/down the stairs to town. This family-run restaurant is reasonably priced and offers very good food. It is open for lunch and dinner. If you are into The Godfather and have a car, take a drive to Savoca (where the movie was filmed) and have lunch at La Pinetta (gorgeous location, high up overlooking the Straits of Messina and Reggio Calabria). With the price of lunch, Antonella (the owner) will arrange a guide to show you all the sights. This should be reserved in advance so Antonella can accommodate you.

“Luxury property in Taormina”

The hotel enjoys a great location overlooking the sea and just a few minutes from the bustle of Taormina (especially using the free shuttle service. The free shuttle to the beach is also a great service. We had a junior suite which was spacious, comfortable and with a large terrace. Friendly and efficient service in an elegant property. A very enjoyable stay.

Area:

Taormina, Italy: A balcony setting on Mount Tauro with a sweeping view of Sicily’s coastline and Mount Etna gives Taormina its lasting appeal. It is Sicily’s only truly international resort, much-favoured by celebrities. The old quarter’s steep, narrow alleys are filled with window boxes and painted pottery, and best explored on foot. Main sights are the classical remains and Renaissance palaces. The Greco-Roman theatre is still used for concerts and festivals.
