Hotel Juliane lies in a residential area about 20 min on foot from downtown Merano. Most of the clientele are German of a certain age who take the half-board option and eat in the hotel. However, during our stay we saw a number of younger couples with childen on a bed and breakfast basis. I can highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to spent a few peaceful, restful days in this tranquil environment. The room we stayed in had all necessary comforts and was both clean and well-kept. The breakfast buffet was very enticing and it was possible to order a cooked breakfast as well. The hotel has plenty of other facilities, two swimming pools, sauna and spa, although we did not make use of them. It also has a bar and provides information on all the neighbourhood activities. There is a large car park that is closed at night (after 21.00). The hotel is somewhat on the expensive side for Italy but Merano is an expensive region with heavy demand for good hotel rooms. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again.
Good location and friendly staff. But our room was very small, rather hot and very noisey. Didn't get much sleep. Booked a double and got two twin beds pushed apart to either side of the room. Bathroom lacked an extractor and was like a sauna after a shower and bathroom door didn't shut properly. Good range of breakfast but overall very dated decor and a bit like being trapped in the Grand Budapest Hotel.

Hotel Aster is a delightful small hotel in Merano. Set in a residential neighborhood, it is a short walk to the city. Rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast buffet is outstanding. The level of service from Gabriela and Luigi and their staff is simply outstanding. From relaxing at the pool drinking cappuccinos to dining in the hotel or elsewhere, or sorting out the myriad of activities in Merano, they provided a level of service that we had not seen in many places!!!
We can't wait to return for another stay!
