"Staff really welcoming, view from room the best!"
Visiting California for the first time, we were delighted with the value for money given by Surf Inn. Loved the seating area overlooking sandbar and ocean, enjoyed the walk along the cliffs, but most of all appreciated the wonderful views from our room. Comfy bed, clean and well equipped room (even if slightly old fashioned in appearance) and wonderful staff.
We were welcomed by the friendliest Inn Keeper. She was able to give us details about our stay and breakfast plus showed us around the Inn. We had a restful sleep and even used the hot tub for a bit in the evening after taking a walk down to a local brewery and Glass Beach. Our room was so quaint and exactly what we needed for our honeymoon getaway. Breakfast was the highlight! Everything about it was amazing and I would definitely stay again if ever in Fort Bragg.

They say - `you get what you pay for’. This is usually true though sometimes it is in reverse of what you expect.
Take, for instance, the Pine Beach Inn. One would rate this as a one or two star lodge. A typical old roadside motel. And it is. It is older and to the side of a road.
Once the main coastal highway throughout the state it is still the only road South to North on this part of the California coast. Consequently it is fairly busy, yet the motel only has a few of its units facing the road and even then they are set back away from the traffic noise.
To the North of the Inn is a canyon filled with growth which makes it hard to see and leaves a large space of nothing but green along the side of the highway which means when you approach the tall sign at night it is easy to find your way home.
The street to the South goes into a private subdivision of cliff top dwellings. The turn top the right takes you to the office and driving straight ahead takes you to a large common area, with gazebo, which separates the wings of the motel, further insuring calm and quite in the units themselves.
Behind the West wing of the inn is a paved path that is fairly steep and leads to the bottom of the canyon and the mouth of a small creek. This area can be fairly dangerous, if there is a large storm brewing on the Pacific Ocean, and there are signs warning you to stay away.
However on a calm day it is a lovely stretch of beach where you may spot some wildlife in the early morning or
The location of the hotel is excellent, just a few short blocks (uphill on the return) from the town center. Great view and attractive grounds. The room was spacious. Had a hard time finding the wall switch for an overhead lamp, camouflaged by a wall paper pattern. Other than that minor inconvenience two of us highly recommend Hill Top. And extra bonus for those of us older folks who remember was the wall of photos of the cast and crew of "Murder She Wrote".
This is a special place. Overlooks Pt. Arena cove, and is a 4 minute walk down to the pier. The scenery is terrific, there is a boat launch (hoist) off the pier, a very good restaurant, and is close to some terrific hikes, beaches, and the Pt. Arena Lighthouse. The hotel is VERY quiet, clean, and takes a limited number of guests. It is a Bed and Breakfast. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, and the folks staying there were as nice as the owners.
We'll be going back.

The Nicholson Inn is a lovely bed and breakfast. My room was beautiful, very nicely appointed, with lovely furnishings. It had lots of space, with a dresser, bed, and two arm chairs. The bathroom was spotless and had good lighting and plenty of space. I loved it and will definitely return. A great place to relax and enjoy Mendocino. It is conveniently located to all the shops and the beach. A great place to stay!

We stayed just one night in a room on the 2nd floor. Rather than have a meal at the Inn, we bought some food and wine at the mini grocery/deli across the street and had a wonderful picnic style meal overlooking the ocean from the rocking chairs on the deck outside our room. Our room was clean and comfortable.
