“Can't wait to go back - excellent place to stay”

This is FIRST class all the way - from the moment we checked in to the end of our 9 day stay - the staff bent over backwards to greet us by name every day and to inform us of nearby events, give us directions, fax things for me when I ordered concert tickets on line , serve an excellent breakfast everyday of our choice included in our package , most comfortable bed - This has been the absolute best experience I have ever had in my 53 years of life !!!!! We even spoke with the General Manager and the letter presented to us at the end of our stay personalized the experience. We were "wowed"!! Would definitely recommend to others !!!

“PERFECT”

We cannot overstate how incredible this hotel was. The service was over the top incredible. The room and bed were first class. The included breakfast every morning was plentiful and well done. Staff, cleanliness, everything was 5 stars. We will be back many times in the future.

“An oasis in downtown Memphis”

A boutique hotel where they call you by name, greet you with a glass of champagne or wine, have a roof terrace on the top floor which has the view of the Mississippi River and the waterfront park, and a piano player at the lobby bar. The famous Paulette's Restaurant moved to the hotel about a year ago and makes the hotel a destination food location.

“Memphis River Inn”

The River Inn is magnificent. I would stay there each time I am in Memphis and will recommend it to my friends and family. Everything was top notch and first class and rates are very reasonable. The rooms are spacious and very clean - I loved the entire place.

“"An Island Paradise"”

You will never find a finer hotel in all of Memphis. The service was first class. From a complimentary glass of champagne/wine at check in to nightly turn down service and glasses of wine each evening, and a complimentary breakfast in the hotel fine dining restaraunt. This was a full breakfast, not donuts and cereal. The staff service from beginning to end was extremely attentive and pleasant. We wished I could take some of the staff home with us. We had a beautiful river view even though we had one of the basic rooms. We walked daily on the river front after breakfast and watched beautiful sunsets from the hotel patio/bar. Just doors away from the hotel were convenient and reasonably priced restaraunts w/ alcohol and a full grocery. The entire neighborhood surrounding the hotel is like a movie set with manicured lawns and anywhere from $350,000 condos to million dollar homes. Absolutely beautiful and walking friendly with its own lagoon and marina. Everything about our stay was top notch. The staff was extremely gracious and helpful. You honestly felt like royalty the whole time. It was worth every penny. After seeing the cramped locations of the downtown luxury hotels, I was so glad that we had chosen the short (5 min) drive from Mudd Island to town, for all the fun tourist venues and food & drink. You will never find a finer hotel experience in all of Memphis. Definitely a quality over quantity experience. Wish we could have stayed forever.

Area recommendations
Beale St is a rite of passage for tourist of course and fun for a day/night one time experience. The music and food is fantastic. We also very muched enjoyed the local establishments in both Midtown and the Cooper historic district. Midtown has Sun Records recording studio a must to be toured for any music fan. The absolute best southern style barbecue is also in Midtown, and well worth the drive. Graceland is a must even if your not a fan. The mansion tour is enough to get a true taste of the King and to experience not only his flamboyance as a musician/icon but his generosity as a man. River Park is seven walking miles long and absolutely beautiful and dog friendly. Hang with the locals at Yosimetee Sam's for seven day a week lively audience paticipatory karakoe in Midtown and if you are not too snooty Wild Bills is also a great late night blues experience.

“The reviews do it credit”

Spent one week at the hotel on honeymoon and did manage to get out of the hotel! To be honest if we were stuck there it would still have been fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food, including the restaurant in the evening was 5+ stars and even the Mayor of Memphis (who we met) eats there, so has to be good. The hotel is in a newly developed area with wonderful houses and apartments. Shops nearby inc. take aways, Casual resturant, Pizzeria, grocery store and deli. The hotel is about 2 miles from the main party area so advise taxi - $12 each way. Gracelands is a little further out about $30 each way. Shopping Mall about $25 each way if you want clothes. Memphis is a great location and not just for Elvis fans, if you love music you have to go.

Area recommendations
Beale Street - action and live music
Must see
Sun Studios - great tour Mojo tour - great our with music Gracelands - Elvis - go VIP Rock and Soul Museum - music lovers

“Didn't stay long enough!”

This hotel was beyond our expectations. If you are looking for something in Memphis that gets you out of downtown, this is the place to go. The personal service you get here is just such a step up from anything we have experienced before. It is in a beautiful setting on the river with beautiful views; luxurious furnishing and bedding. We will definatly stay there again, the next time we are in Memphis.

“Marvelous Memphis Gem”

The staff at the River Inn was second to none, they gave wonderful suggestions and concierge service. The parking was always available and conveinient. The location of the property is beautiful and peaceful but still extremely easy to get to the downtown bars, restuarants and shopping. (literally 2-4 minute car ride!) I can't wait to stay at our next Preferred Hotel property because this trip was amazing because of our stay at River Inn of Harbor Town.

Dining
Coming from New Orleans and working in the Hotel, Restuarant and Tourism industry my entire life I am usually very critical on vacation dining, However I was pleasantly suprised on more than one occasion in Memphis! The restaurant " FLIGHT" located in the heart of downtown was not only a unique concept but exceptional atmosphere and the food was something to talk to about!!! (seafood flight was superb!) We also thouroughly enjoyed our experience at "Bluefin ", a lively sushi restuarant located downtown, the sushi was so fresh and the atmosphere was upbeat and a perfect start for our Saturday night out on the town! We stumbled across the Majestic Cafe for Sunday Brunch and were more than pleased with the appetizing selections and the 5 piece live band. ( My boyfriend highly recommends the Filet Benedict) The best HAPPY HOUR in town is at "Automatic Slims" ...well if you like martinis that is, they are only $5 each and there are over 15 specialty to choose from!!!!! Lastly we left Memphis on a very good note with a hardy breakfast at "ARCADE" : the city's oldest cafe. It was a super-cute old-time cafe set up with overly friendly waitresses, fun atmosphere and very filling breakfast and lunch options.
