“Will be back soon”

This is a very nice & comfortable hotel. The employees were very friendly & helpful. I enjoyed my stay.

“Great hotel for the price”

Hotel staff always willing to help. Needs more information leaflets about surrounding area. Breakfast good with freindly service. You can hear aeroplanes landing and taking off over hotel but does not detract from the hotel. Good area for shopping resturants and car ride from gracelands.

Area recommendations
Only gracelands worth visiting.
Getting around
A car is a must.

“Very nice Holiday Inn”

The hotel, the common areas and the room where very nice. Really liked the pool. It seemed odd to me that there wasn't a ice machine on each floor. The hotel seemed to have all you would want, but it took a search party to find the ice machine which was not on my floor.

“Great Hotel, Great Location”

This hotel is set off the main drag but is right around the corner from everything. Lots of fantastic restaurants, fast-food, shopping, etc. are nearby and it's a quick drive into Memphis. Staff is professional and courteous. Rooms are well maintained and very clean.

Area recommendations
When heading into Memphis, Beale Street is a no-brainer. It has a great energy, lots of incredible live music and amazing food.
Dining
Go see Marcus at the Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale for excellent service while enjoying primo drinks, stellar food and great blues music. The Bacon, Lettuce & Fried Green Tomato Po' Boy; the Barbecue Pulled Pork Nachos and the hot Pecan Pie are all beyond good!

“Southaven Holiday Inn Express”

“Definitely will return if in the area”

On the spur of the moment I decided to head to Memphis for Memorial Day weekend. I was hard pressed to find a hotel close to downtown Memphis but that disappoint soon changed when I checked in to the Holiday Inn at Southhaven, MS. This hotel is only about 8 miles from downtown Memphis and is located just off the interstate, making it an easy in and out. I booked a king room and it also included the breakfast. Not just your average breakfast buffet but a full service restaurant. Excellent food and the waitresses were top notch. My room was immaculate and the ladies at the front desk went out of their way to make my stay very enjoyable. There is an indoor pool and work out room. I think if there was anything I was disappointed in was that there was no outdoor pool. With temps in the high 80s that would have been refreshing after a day on Beale St. If you don't mind staying out a short drive this would be the place to stay. There are numerous restaurants, a huge shopping mall, movie theatres, etc within blocks of the hotel. It may be a little pricier than some other comparable hotels but you get what you pay for. On Friday night we sat on the patio and watched the jets fly directly over head going in to the Memphis airport but we did not hear them at all once we were in our room. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the Memphis area.

Area recommendations
Beale Street was somewhat of a disappoint but I hadn't been there so was worth seeing. A definite must for the first timer is to take the Rock and Roll Bus tour. It's upbeat and you can become an instant musician by playing an instrument as the bus winds it's way around the sites of the Memphis area. I also recommend the Rendezvous restaurant. Famous for the mouth watering ribs and selections of BBQ beef and pork. Go early or plan on a wait.
