“We loved St Kilda's”
Melbourne is a beautiful city and we loved the Trams, and that subourb of St Kilda is a very nice place to stay and rest and is just 15 mins by tram to CBD. There ae wonderful place to tale a beer, a sprankling and dinning too.
“Thanks....”
We travelled with our 18 month old and they were very friends. It was a bit shabby but only on the surface everything worked and was well run. The noisiest bathroom extractors in the world.
“Great location and really nice rooms”
The hotel is very well located right next to many restaurants and bars. The deluxe rooms are very nice and very comfortable. I visit Melbourne every 6 weeks and always stay here and will continue to do so. I would certainly recommend it friends or work colleagues.
“Good value, close (but not too close) to the action”
Well located in close to Ackland St in St Kilda - many cafes and bars, and even a beach (or at least what passes for one in Melbourne), but not too close to any rowdy pubs. Comfortable rooms (though I think they are quite varied, and some appear to be set right onto the street). Easy to get to by tram (aim for Luna Park). Had free parking, though this filled up sometimes. $15 buffet breakfast was quite good, though there are also many other options nearby. Not posh, but good value (at least in winter!), and much better than staying in a dreary suburb.
“Great Family Hotel on a Budget”
I admit that I was unsure what t o expect choosing this hotel but me and my family were all impressed with how friendly and helpful the staff were, the location and the apartment rooms were well fitted out for my wife and I plus the children with TV's, DVD's and given Melbourne winter heated rooms!!! Would definately stay here again.
“Good location for the beach but hard to get to the airport”
I stayed at athis hotel for 5 nights in winter time. When I first checked in, the room did not have a working heating system, only cooling. Not useful in Melbourne winter :). The staff quickly put me in another room where the heating system was working and it turned out to be great. The hotel is very close to the main street in St Kilda with great cake shops and take aways as well as pubs. Good shopping too. It's also only 5 mins away from the beach and a couple of minutes to the tram into town. Unfortunatelly it's not very close to the airport or transport to the airport. The staff booked me on an airport shuttle bus which failed to turn up (perhaps due to bad traffic) so I had to catch a can that costed me over $70. I wrote to the hotel manager to ask for a share of the transport cost and he/she never replied. Very dissapointed about that. So I spent about $50 extra for transport to the airport due to no fault of my own
“Not bad but......”
Make sure you beg for a room away from the street. We asked for one after reading reviews. But we did not get one. Instead, we got one on the street on the second floor right across from the Base nightclub and they partied loud on the street until 2:30-3 AM every night. The room itself was nice- spacious and well appointed. They do charge a fee for in-room internet and it was not even wireless. Wireless is free in the lobby. The area itself is nice with nice eats just a quick walk away.
“Stress Free Stay”
Overall, we had a very pleasant 4 nights at this hotel. The staff were helpful with directions to an areas we needed to go. For the price we paid the room did seem a bit simple. I would like to see a few more details looked at - ie, no pens or writing paper in room etc. after working in Boutique hotels myself, I think it could use a few more friendly touches. Other than that it was extremely clean, quiet and perfect for a hassle- free romantic stay!
“reccommend to others”
Great size rooms. Kitchenette was useful. Beds extremely comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good location for St Kilda. Easy tram to chapel street and city. I had a half price deal but i would pay full price any time.
“Very impressed”
Have enjoyed this accommodation several times now and have highly recommended it to others. Another colleague stayed on this visit.
