Lovely hotel, in very pleasant and quiet location, about 20 miles in the car from Bordeaux, the staff were very nice/ helpful, lovely breakfast but we found the resturant food wasn't to our taste and the meal we had there on our first night was very expensive.
"Nice golf and pretty close to the best wine region"
French take on golf for a country without many courses. Full on practice facility and a couple of nice courses. There was a pro tourney on one so we were relegated to the number 2 course. A little uneven fairway conditions but good greens. Rental clubs ok. Good area to drink wine and eat!
A little out of town (Bordeaux), but once you arrive a calmness relaxes you and life is good away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff is wonderful and so helpful. They arranged out wine tasting day followed by a fabulous meal at Cafe du Port with a view of the bridge and river. The rooms were big, spacious and luxurious. Chateau living with elegance and practicality. Loved it and would do it again if we ever get back there.
Rollan de By was a peaceful retreat where we sat back and listened to the vines growing, the hotel is run by a vivacious young couple who look after your every need,
top tip take back some of the wine from the chateaux they sell it at the hotel and is not to be missed
this hotel is one of the rare few that merits 5 stars for every category, the rooms are beautiful the beds give you a blissfull nights sleep and the breakfast is worth waking up for.

Helpful staff (though he checks you in, waits your table, and cleans your room ;) . Mansion is gorgeous, as are the grounds. Location superb, about a half mile from Lafite and Cos d'Estournel. Use the back road that runs by the stone tower in the vineyard, to get to the coastal road for an easy way to Pauillac. This Fall the hotel will remake the rooms (clean now but 1970s) and become a 4-star place. Highly recommended now, however, and don't miss the Ch St Estephe local wine. Also dinner at Pomys was better than in Pauillac.
Situated northwest of Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Gironde, the Médoc is famous for its vineyards that produce delicate, fine red wines, The area is divided into two parts: the Haut-Médoc in the south, and the north part traditionally just called Médoc. Pauillac is a pleasant port town at the heart of wine country and its châteaux, surrounded by fabled vineyards such as Margaux, St Julien and Lafite Rothschild.
