Our stay at Makarim Ajyad Makkah Hotel this ramadan was outstanding. It was a perfect hotel, only a few minute walk from the haraam. Most of the staff at the reception desk could speak basic English, our room was not ready upon check in. When we arrived after the check in time which was very annoying having to wait in the reception. We had iftar at the hotel as it was ramadan, the buffet was very diverse and had a great variety each day. The rooms where very modern and very big with four of us having enough room to move about with our own space as well. The hotel also provided free WIFI throughout the hotel. It will definitely be a hotel I would consider staying in the future.
I stayed at this hotel in the first 7 days of Ramadan 2014 and the value is unbelievable. Very friendly staff ever so willing to lend a helping hand. Location is really close to the Haram, in fact during busy hours the salat saff reaches to right outside the hotel doors.
I will definitely stay again.
Hotel is well served by public transport buses(only positive). Hotel does not have its own shuttle service.
The reception staff are all young local kids who have no interest in their job or guests. Checkin felt like Saudi immigration!

It's about 15-20 mins. walk to the King Fahad Gate at Masjid al-Haram, which isn't all that bad during non-peak season. The Mattresses in the rooms definitely needs an upgrade!!
The hotel is good enough if your main objective is to spend most of the time at the mosque.
Overall, our stay for 2-3 Nights was pleasant -- although our Complimentary breakfast ( Suhoor - during Ramadan) was knocked off and we were given Iftar instead which was pretty good.
