Great Hotel for the price. Service is above avg

Posted 18-Nov-2014
Pros: The breakfast, the complimentary coffe at the entrance, the complimentary pop corn and drinks at the bar.
Cons: I think the matresses are ok, but it would be nice if they are changed, because the are a little bit loose.
Location: The mall, different stores and restaurants a very close to the hotel.
The staff service is excellent. Everything in the hotel is in very good condition. The hotel breakfast has many options.

Satisfied

Drury Inn McAllen was a good, clean hotel that met our needs for a 2 night stay. Didn't make use of the amenities but was very satisfied with our room.

Drury Inn Experience

Posted 12-Aug-2014
Pros: Close proximity to expressway and restaurants.
Cons: Front Clerk's customer service.
Location: Location was good for the area, close to restaurants.
The Hotel was okay. Smaller than I expected. Too many people and kids at the breakfast for the small area, I chose not to eat breakfast at the Drury and this was one of the reasons why I chose it. I expected the pool area to be nicer for a Drury Inn. I had asked to pay cash for the room and they went ahead and charged my card anyway and the clerk got frustrated with me when I ask for why and for a refund on my card so I could pay cash. This must be a common problem because the clerk quickly replied with a rude response as to why they charged my card. Also, there was only one clerk assisting at check-out which was time consuming because the clerk also had to answer the phone and assist them as well. I am a club member and will not use this hotel again.

adequate, but non-smokers beware

Posted 11-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel had a good rate, but I could only get a room for smokers. I knew this when I made the reservation, so I can't complain too much. But, the smell of cigarette smoke is fairly prevalent throughout the facility. I always worry that I seem to rate hotels lower than other travelers do -- but the next night I spent in a comparable Houston area hotel that I would rate higher than other travelers do, and higher than this one. (Unfortunately, I can't review it here because the reservation was made by the airline when my flight was delayed due to weather.) In any event, good amenities at Drury Inn, including small business center with a computer and a printer, pretty good breakfast, happy hour serving appetizers and drinks, exercise room, etc. Nice staff. Conveniently located to downtown and airport (about 5 minutes from each) -- but weird access because it is on the freeway access road, which is one-way, so it takes some effort to figure out how to get from the access road on one side of the freeway to the place you need to be on the other side of the freeway. There is a buffet restaurant next door and an Olive Garden about two doors down. Drury seems to own three or four different hotel properties next to each other along this street. It is a short drive to many restaurants, to a supermarket and to a shopping mall.
