“Don't go there!!”

It was really uncomfortable! The room was really small and it wasn't clean at all. You can hear the noise of the cars when you are trying to sleep

“Very friendly, helpful staff”

The lobby is also a wine and tapas bar, so it was lively and convenient. Live music on Friday and Saturday night. A serviceable breakfast in the morning, and excellent lattes for sale. The staff were very helpful. They were patient/appreciative of our attempts at Spanish, but could use English when necessary. The room was comfortable, but basic. Two bath towels and a bath mat--that's it. BYO washcloth. It was difficult to find restaurants in walking distance.

“Have To Go Back”

My son wanted to spend his vacation here with the family, and ask me to make all the arrangements, and when I saw the picture of the hotel I just fell in love, All 3 rooms were very comfortable. All my grandchildren enjoy it also, The only complain is that the microwave were only for the penthouse, we found out the same day we got there, (we had bought frozen food for the kids) lol. Try out the bakery in the corner, Great food at great price, And entertainment for the kids were close by. All in all we enjoy it very much and are planning on going back.

“Second time around & raring to return!”

This was our second mini-vacation/getaway at HoJo Downtown Mayagüez and it has been the best yet. This time, we got a room on the third floor of the new building. It was a corner room with windows that overlooked the surrounding streets and allowed us to look far into the mountainside of the town. The amenities were the same as before, but the bathroom in this one was roomier and more modern than the one in the room we had stayed at before (located in the main/traditional building.) Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food Service, and Parking staff were, as before, extremely helpful and very pleasant. We are already looking forward to planning our third visit and can't wait to be back!

“Good!”

Location excellent because you can go to several places of interest, like La Parguera, Cabo Rojo, Rincon, shopping centers and beaches. My room had 2 big beds and was very comfortable. It's good!

“Much-awaited for mini-vacation turned out better than expected”

While I lived in Mayagüez, I had driven by the hotel, but had never considered the possibility of a stay there until recently. To celebrate our 2-year anniversary, my boyfriend and I decided on a short trip (back to the West coast, in my case), and, in a heartbeat, booked our room at the HoJo. What a pleasant surprise! Friendly, helpful front office, housekeeping, and parking staff; comfy, intimate rooms; tasty morsels and drinks could be had for an incredibly appropriate price from the in-house food vendor: everything we could have wanted and/or needed to make our stay pleasant was within easy reach. We're already planning our next visit which, hopefully, will be soon!

“Great Hotel!”

The staff at Howard Johnson Downtown Mayaguez is friendly and very attentive. The front desk attendant (Waldemar) took care of all our additional requests within a reasonable amount of time, and the staff at the cafe made delicious food and drinks, and they had great personalities and friendly attitudes. The rooms vary in decor and size (we had 2 rooms), and they are very clean and comfortable. One of the rooms had a balcony facing the church, and we saw all the Christmas lights in the plaza from our balcony! We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and we recommend staying at the Howard Johnson in Mayaguez if anyone is traveling to Puerto Rico. We will definitely stay there again!

Nice lobby area, nice food and wine selection at the bar. Clean facility.

The hotel is fine but for 2 to 3 day stay you have and seek more food on the menue and Drinks other then Wine.
