An Outstanding Vacation

Posted 08-Apr-2013
Pros: service, ambiance
Cons: the room was not made up until late in the day
Location: at the beach but within 15 minutes of shopping, the botanical garden and the Sugar Museum
A beautiful hotel right on the beach. The staff provided excellent service, often without asking. Lovely beach, good food. Marvelous spa. The home made rums were fun and some of them delicious. Mauritius is altogether a wonderful place. The hawkers on the beach were polite and not overpowering. Each one has a license, and they had some interesting items at reasonable prices, Mark Twain said, God made Mauritius, and then he modeled heaven after it.

Not worth it!

Posted 05-Apr-2012
Pros: breakfast
Cons: room, food,
Location: quiet, but no amenities within walking distance
Very slow check-in service. The room was tired looking - damp including sheets, stained curtains and pillows. It rained for most of the time we spent in the hotel and the corridors were constantly flooded. There did not seem to be any contingency for this. Breakfast was good, but that is were the good ends. The dinner was awful. If you are not all-inclusive, it is £35 per person, which is ridiculously expensive. They state 'free wi-fi', but only if it works in your room.

twin room options

Posted 14-Mar-2012
Pros: management were very accommodating in terms of our requests
Cons: the 1st room furnished with twin beds were very small & to crammed with furniture to move
Location: the hotel is situated in a lovely location - the estate is beautiful - gardens immaculate. Breakfasts are very good quality with good variety
We were to female friend starveling together - requested twin beds. They have limited options in this regard - to check beforehand. Also we did not want to stay on ground level for security purposes, this has to be communicated in advance too

Britvick Mauritius

Posted 21-Oct-2011
Location: Take a day trip with one of the hotel taxi services if you want to see the real Mauritius.
The hotel is beautiful in every way. The only thing I would say is be careful of the fully inclusive packages as it really does not include everything! The water sports are brilliant and mostly free. The food is brilliant with an enormous selection. The setting, service and facilities are beautiful. Go, you will not regret it. Oct 2011. October was lovely weather, but then the North in Mauritius is better anyway.

A True Paradise

Posted 03-Feb-2011
The grounds, staff and rooms were all wonderful, beautifully maintained and pristine. The friendly and helpful staff were very helpful and made the stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Take advantage of the the inclusive water sports, snorkling, sailing, waterskiing - along with the water staff, they are loads of fun. I highly recommend the breakfast at the restaraunt on the beach, a very peaceful and enjoyable way to start the day. A great place for rest and relaxation. A slice of heaven.

Stunning location!

Posted 25-Jan-2011
The hotel surrounding is stunning! Very beautiful! When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted with a cocktail and cooling flannel. From previous reviews, I've noticed that some people complained about the slow check-in. However despite check-in being at 3pm, I was shown to my room before then with no fuss. For those arriving earlier than 3pm, and unable to check-in early, there is an 'arrival/departure lounge', which has lockers and showers. The porter who showed me to the room was very friendly and helpful. There is so much to do within the hotel grounds, that there is little need to actually leave the grounds! There's horse riding, tennis, archery, water sports, a spa, bike hire and so much more. I used the spa during my stay, again the surrounds are beautiful! Although I didn't use the service, the waiters around the pool seemed to come around relatively frequently. The hotel staff were all very friendly, and willing to assist if needed. The only downside to the hotel is the location - it's a little isolated, however I wouldn't let that put you off it. If I go back to Mauritius, I would defiantly stay at the Maritim again.
