A nice place definitely for the price. They are doing room upgrades but it was clean and comfortable and simple. The staff is so super friendly and great recommendations on food as well as sights. I will stay here again on my next visit.

Amazing property, and most helpful and friendly staff!! Upon arrival, they let me know I was upgraded at no charge to a beach front view. It was literally across the street from the ocean! I listened to the waves going to sleep each night. Very clean and upgraded with modern amenities, and conveniently located. I’d absolutely book again. Highly recommend!

Best location to everything and the staff was so nice. Would definitely recommend! The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. Only thing I didn’t like was there was no outdoor shower for washing off sand.

The front desk staff are absolutely incredible, very friendly and super helpful with any questions/requests you may have. The only thing I wish could have been different: having dishes and dish soap in the room. You have access to a mini fridge and microwave, but it’s tough to make a quick breakfast/lunch if you’re trying to budget. The restaurants in the area are awesome but you’ll run out of $$ quickly if you’re eating out for every meal! A few microwave-safe dishes would have been great. Other than that, couldn’t have asked for anything else! Great location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room.

The outside looks weathered but the rooms are very nicely renovated and clean. The staff is super helpful and very kind. I really have enjoyed my stay.

The in-room description on the reservation through Expedia was different from the room into which we were booked.We were to have a “1 king, 2 bedroom suite, oceanfront” that priced out by Expedia from $550 to $560 per day (paid in advance through Expedia),not including taxes and fees.The hotel receptionist verified, the room we were actually booked into was a standard room, priced at approximately $325/day, not including taxes and fees and that we would have to work with Expedia for a refund. Expedia tried multiple times to verify the price differences and after at least 8 days, they informed us that they were unable to obtain approval for a refund from the manager. We also tried to speak to the manager. We were denied a phone number. We left multiple messages and never received a response. According to the receptionist, the manager, when she finally talked to Expedia, told them something about "room taxes,” indicating that what we had already paid did not account for room taxes. (Since we have not been able to talk to the manager we don’t know exactly what she reported to Expedia.) The manager may be confused, because our Expedia receipt shows that the higher room rate and room taxes were paid. Apparently Expedia can do no more for us. So, we are left with doubts about the efficacy of using Expedia to plan future travel, especially if hotels can switch the quality of a booked room at-will. We cannot recommend that any travelers plan a stay at the Kohea Kai Maui!

However, hotels have different taxes associated as well as hotel fee which is the only thing hotel collects upon arrival. Unfortunately due to booking and paying Expedia, you were referred back to Expedia to discuss your reservation because it is where you made the reservation. Hotel only collects your hotel fee. Again, we apologize this was not made clear to you and we hope in the near future you will allow us a chance to better accommodate you.

8 of us stayed in the 3 bedroom 2 bath suite. It was nice and spacious, larges kitchen and dinning area, washer and dryer. The staff was great, short drive to shopping center and eateries in the area. 👍👍👍

The employees were kind and accommodating. Their performance was excellent. The room was clean, but outdated and a bit uncomfortable. The amenities were lacking. The pool area was misrepresented in photos. Not much dining in proximity. Ultimately lodging was, in my opinion, not worth the cost.

Parking spaces were very tight and most difficult to park in, no hand soap in the bathroom , the pool was the size of a jacuzzi, The bed was comfortable but you could hear every noise from the neighbors, the screen door to the balcony wasn’t attached so I fixed it. They overcharged for what they provide.breakfast was an oatmeal packet or a packet of crackers

Staff was nice and friendly. Rooms were clean. Only reason why I rated area around the property a 3 was because of the road closures - main road next to hotel with no through traffic and the next connecting road with through traffic is about 7 mins away. But overall the property and staff is all rated a 5.

It was great but we were Not notified of the closed road due to flooding so we Had trouble finding the place. Also no hand soap was provided. Otherwise very comfortable and nice.

Wonderful little place. The staff was excellent and so friendly. The room was very clean and newly remodeled! There is some remodeling being done, but we were never disturbed by noise.

The room seemed clean and smelled of cleaning products, but attempts to slap tile and a few new fixtures over a room in poor condition did not work. The place needs a true renovation to repair water and drywall damage. Parking was extremely tight and you had to back all the way out the length of the building right in front of first floor rooms. Not safe!

Not what we paid for!
We rented a junior suite and the pictures showed a full kitchen and plenty of room. What we received was a small studio with tiny frig and coffee maker. Even though we requested our original booking we were told it wasn't available and that all of their junior suites no longer had kitchens. We asked for a refund of the cost difference between a studio and junior suite and were told they would only refund the resort fee of $50. Then we were told they would have to check with corporate. We have followed up and no response even though we have an email agreeing that the pictures on hotels.com are more than 5 years old and incorrect. Staff were nice enough and the room was ok...just not at all what we had paid for and no remedy of the issue. Pictures on hotels.com still show the full kitchen!

Old and dated
The hotel is falling apart. The sink is almost coming off the wall. The shower does not drain. The parking was reverse to get out of the lot only. Noise above felt like floor was going to fall. The staff was the highlight!!!!

Front staff super friendly and recommended an excellent pizza delivery place. Wish I could have stayed longer than one night to better enjoy. The only knock was a very early checkout message at 615 with a request in it for tips for front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and facilities. That struck me as a bit excessive

Very nice person at check in. Good location. The room was nice but freezing; the air conditioning was hard to control. The WiFi was terrible, kept cutting out. Not worth the mandatory resort fee.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating when we needed to drop our bags early before check in. The penthouse is a fantastic suite with amazing views. Love it!
