It was simple

Posted 22-Jun-2015
I went with my boyfriend for the night so we could attend a concert that night. Since we weren't staying long, we didn't care too much. The room was clean. But the stairwells however were stained by leaking trashbags and smelt like it too.

Place to sleep and shower. That's all.

Posted 15-Jun-2015
We had a first floor king room. It was very small and had a musty smell to it. There was barely enough room to walk around. No closet just a wardrobe and there wasn't much light to see in that area. The bathroom was adequate but the water pressure was low and the mirrors fogged up quickly. The gym was bare bones. The staff seemed nice enough. I would recommend this hotel as a place to sleep and shower but don't expect much more from the room. There are places to shop and eat within walking distance.

Better than average average

Stayed for 4 days for a concert at Jones Beach. Close to beach, nearby ferry to Fire Island and short drive to the Hamptons. Great bike path nearby around nature preserve. Hotel staff was friendly- not very helpful about nearby activities. Room clean, comfortable. Above average average- not 5 star but clean, good simple linens, and well maintained. Good standard Best Western Breakfast- cereal, pastry, waffles. Small indoor pool, workout room with broken elliptical. Would definitely recommend to family/friends. Not an amazing vacation spot- but close to enough to keep busy.

Nice Hotel With An Excellent Staff

Posted 10-Jun-2015
Pros: Wifi and breakfast are included and appreciated.
Cons: The only thing the hotel could use is a better equipped fitness room.
Location: Ciao Baby, located next to the hotel, has an excellent restaurant and bar.
There are few hotels to choose from when staying on the south shore in Eastern Nassau or Western Suffolk. The recently renovated Best Western Bar Harbour sets itself apart by providing nice, clean comfortable rooms and an EXCELLENT STAFF. I had 2 suites reserved while traveling with my elderly parents. The staff went well out of their way to make sure we had a great stay.

A good place to lay your head...

We would go back if we ever needed a convenient nook that was close to the shore, all the stores and the train station. Nice friendly staff and decent breakfast. This is not a "Hotel"...It is a glorified motel/inn. Nothing schmancy. :-)

Close to train station to the city.

Pros: Nice breakfast buffet served each morning.
Location: Close to shopping and train station.
Good location and price for this hotel. Would have liked to have been in the main part of the hotel but our room was satisfactory with the outside entrance.

Worst Western

Posted 20-Apr-2015
We traveled to LI so my daughter could participate in a kocal Karate tournement. Skeep fir her and my son was important, so we reserved a room for 4, with a roll a way bed. They informed us after we got there that they do not provide roll a way beds. The pull out couch was nothing but springs. When I asked to have the bed made up, they wouldnt. So I asked for at least a comforter to soften the springs. I got that, but had to ask for a blanket. We ended up putting the cushions from the couch and chair on top of the mattress and putting the comforter over that. There were only 3 towels in the bathroom, even though they new there were 4 of us staying in the room. They have a pool, which was grungy and had a dirty ring around it. The water fountain had so much rust around it I refused to let my kids have a drink. For breakfast, there was some sort of green mystery in with the scrambled eggs, so we didn't dare eat those. And they have a Belgin waffle maker. One. So standing in line was mandatory. And the desk staff gave me Freud because I had booked the room with expedia. Like we were some sort of low life. When we go back to the tournement next year, I will not be staying there. And I will never stay at a Worst Western again if I can help it. I travel quite often and have never had such a bad experience.
