“Some difficulties”

Whilst the hotel was clean and in good order, I appeared to fluster the reception staff when I requested a requested a double bed for my partner and myself. I fully appreciate that I was staying in a country which oberves different customs to the UK, however I expected an international hotel to be better prepared. Perhaps, additonal training is required. There was an element of sniggering in reception when I was given my key, which I found rather amusing, but others may not. Therefore, I would not recommend this hotel for same sex couples.

“Better than expected! Definately the right choice for us.”

A great hotel. Very clean and well presented, comfortable room. Air conditioned, sattelite tv and a decent size double bed. Hotel facilities were also good, restaurant provided a variety of traditional Moroccan food as well as fast food, tagines, pizza etc. Hotel also has a swimming pool ( outdoor-free, indoor- fee). Spa also available, although in my opinion it was quite expensive. Would recommend this hotel as it's in an ideal location, taxi ride away from the medina and souks and quite near to the menara airport ( 30dhirams on the bus).

“Comfortable but no alcohol”

Modern hotel with a large swimming pool. The air con in the room I was origionally given didn't work so I was given another room which wasn't quite as good but the air con did work. This is a chain hotel and no alcohol is served in these hotels. There are however restaurants nearby where you can get a beer or wine.

Area recommendations

This is an attractive city. There are many four star hotels in the neighbourhood of the Ryad Mogador Opera. The area is called 'Hivernage'.

“OK but not 4 Star”

This is a nice hotel, clean and well priced but it is on a very busy road and if you get a room at the front (as we did) it is a bit noisy. Although billed as 4 star I would say it rates as 3 star. Be prepared to get ripped off on the cost of a taxi from and to the airport, although that said its not nearly as expensive as one from London to Heathrow or Gatwick. One of its best features is that the "hop on hop off" bus tour stops right outside so sightseeing is easy. If you like walking most of the sights are within walking distance of about 20 minutes or so and its pretty flat and easy going.

Area recommendations

Majorelle Gardens are really worth a look as are the parade of shops that precede the entrance. Even if you don't want to buy anything the designs and art are worth looking at. Jamaa El Fna during the day and at sunset is really worth walking through, if you can stand the hassle but to see that much humanity in one place is really something. The Souk is also a good place to stroll around but make sure you barter hard for anything you want, after all if you don't get the price you want from one place there are plenty more!

“accueil exceptionnel ,bon rapport qualité prix.”

Nous appréhendions notre séjour suite à certaines mauvaises appréciations. Certes l’hôtel mériterai quelques rénovations, mais il reste plus que correct. Et le personnel est charmant , disponible et aidant. Cet accueil digne du savoir vivre à la marocaine à contribué à nous faire apprécier notre séjour. En plus le quartier est parfait mêlant modernité et culture traditionnelle , la médina est accessible à pied.

“Ryad Mogador Opera, sehr gutes Hotel in der Nähe vom Bahnhof”

Hotel ist sehr zu empfehlen: Sehr groß, modern und vor allem sauber. Hotel liegt nur 2 Minuten vom Bahnhof entfernt und ist daher ideal für Kurzreisende. Gehobener Standard zu akzeptablen Preisen. Mit einem Taxi ist man in 5-10min für 3€ in der Innenstadt. Waren in diesem Hotel für 1 Nacht und würden jederzeit wieder dort übernachten.

“Bon rapport qualité/prix”

L'hôtel est calme et bien situé, le personnel est serviable et aimable, mais la salle de restaurant au petit-déjeuner n'est pas assez aérée. Le centre de spa avec sa piscine chauffée est très agréable, ainsi que la salle de fitness.

Pour mieux apprécier cette belle ville, il est préférable de marcher à pied.

Must see

Les jardins de Majorelle, le palais de la Bahia, la Menara et bien sûr flâner sur la place Djema el fna.

Dining

N'hésitez pas à essayer les restaurants typiquement marocains. Sinon le Café Arabe dans la médina est un havre de paix. Il faut aussi tester l'Argana pour son emplacement idéal et son jus d'orange et glace vanille. Dans le Guéliz, il y a beaucoup de bar/resto tendance (plus ou moins pour les touristes) : Elite, La Place, Charlot. Sinon, Al Fassia est le top des restaurants marocains. Le Thai wok a des recettes thaïlandaises mais c'est vraiment très très bien.
