“A Hidden Gem”

Riad Yasmine is located in the Medina neighbourhood within easy walk of the Souks and the main square and most of the tourist attractions (we took a taxi to the Yves St Laurent gardens). When you first arrive at the front door you wonder what to expect as the streets are very dirty and tatty and the entrance to the Riad is just an old studded door in a wall. However inside it's beautiful, traditionally Moroccan with tiled floors and a central courtyard with the rooms entranced from it. It is spotlessly clean and the staff and welcoming and friendly and cannot do enough for you. The rooms are traditional in decor and furnished in an authentic style. The bathrooms are tiled in mosaic tile and again are extremely clean. If we visit Marrakech again we would definitely stay here.

Area recommendations
Visit the Souks for traditional Moroccan fayre and be prepared to haggle! We visited the Bahia palace and the Ben Yousef school which were beautiful buildings but empty. The night market in the square is a must especially if you eat there to soak up the atmosphere however both my husband and I are both visiting the loo alot today! (2 days home).

“It felt like home”

Rarely is a hotel look as good as the pictures in the brochure. But this one was. Apart from needing an upgrade to the sunbeds on the roof, everything was near perfect. Breakfasts were especially good. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. They were never pushy nor obsequious. We felt at home within minutes of arrival.

Area recommendations
The Whole of the old town is very interesting. Except for the parks, dont bother with the new town - it is a building site.
Getting around
Get a detailed map. Try to avoid being shown around by the locals - it costs. Snake charmers and henna ladies and souk shopkeepers very persistent. Dont be afraid to keep saying no. Teenage girls will get the most hassle. Keep them on a short lead and try to laugh it off. Despite all this it felt remarkably safe everywhere.

“Quiet oasis - a real find!”

When the door to the Riad opened after a tiring journey we couldn't believe how quiet and tranquil it was compared the hustle and bustle and noise of the city itself. If you are looking for a small hotel with a friendly service away from the noise of the city then this is the hotel for you. The souks are only a short walk away if you don't get lost. The food in the hotel is excellent, should you wish to stay and eat in one night. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay here and would recommend to anyone planning a visit to Marrakech.

“Convenient and full of atmosphere”

Riad Yasmine is a well run 8 room hotel just north of the souks in the Marrakech Medina. There is a taxi rank just round the corner. The staff are extremely helpful and evening meals, ordered in advance, are excellent but about english prices(as are outside restaurant prices). Beer and wine are available. Full of atmosphere and quiet, what more can you ask?

Area recommendations
anywhere in the medina, provided there was a taxi rank close by. You need to negotiate your fare before booking so don't get the hotel to book it.
Getting around
use taxis but agree the fare before getting in
Must see
we did a walking tour of the medina and a day trip to the atlas mountains, both were excellent
Events and shows
chez ali is wonderful

“An oasis”

Riad Yasmine is situated away from the touristy areas which we found to our liking.Round the corner was a square with a few shops and stalls used by the local people. One can walk to the centre i.e Jemaa el fna but you are likely to get lost.At the square there is a taxi point but taxis could also be hailed down as they passed by. There is also a daytime bus which passes Jemaa el fna and the Koutoubia Mosque. The riad itself is delightful and exotic, the rooms on two floors are all situated to look over a central courtyard which has a pool. The staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful. They were meticulous with their service and took great pride in their work.

Area recommendations
The Medina from the north through to the southern part all has places worth while visiting. The central point of Jemaa el fna is the best starting point to get to all the sights by foot. I would recommend seeing everything you can that is listed in your guide book, especially the top ten. Spending time people watching in Jemaa el fna is very absorbing. For photographers we suggest going up to a panoramic balcony and take photos there then you don't get asked for payment for taking peoples photos!
When to go
We travelled to Marrakech in the latter part of March and the weather was super, pleasantly warm and quite sunny, a welcome change after the English winter
Getting around
Getting around the Old City can be done on foot but both buses and taxis are very cheap. Females can walk about safely without harassment and during the day in central areas it is safe to go about as a single person.
Must see
Jemaa el fna from the terrace of Cafe Glacier. To do this one has to buy a drink(soft) to get through the turnstile but it is worth it both day and night. A walk through the La Mamounis hotel. The Palais el Badii ruins where you also can see storks nesting on the walls. Palais de la Bahia for its elaborately decorated ceilings and courtyards. The Medersa Ben Youssef for its fine archtecture, particularly the intricate stucco

“Do not recommend marrakech”

Although the staff were pleasant got the feeling that they were keen to make as much money from us as possible. Booked us into recommended restaurants where set 3 course meal and a local beer cost £50 per person. Arranged a taxi who tried to charge £20 for a 5 minute journey. In the end we paid £10 and got one ourselves for the return journey for £5. it was nor their fault that boys with catapults hit us with stones but it was a very poor area and although we dressed sympathetically for the culture we were obvious targets. The hotel did provide ice for my daughters swollen finger

“Excellent Riad”

Riad Yasmine is a haven of calm - which is just what you need to retreat to after the whirlwind of activity that is everywhere outside. Our room was spacious and very clean, although a little chilly when going back at night in mid February. I'm sure that heaters would have been provided if we had asked. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful; available 24hrs. We didn't eat evening meals there as we looked forward to the buzz of eating outside in Jmaa El Fna but a good breakfast of yoghurt and sweet breads were served with excellent coffee and juice. Mid february was like a nice April day in England but coats needed at night. I felt happier covering up arms and legs as a matter of respect and most women did. Not sure how things change as the weather heats up. The map given to us to get to Jmaa El Fna and the Souks was very basic but if you take to note the landmarks you won't go wrong. I don't think I'm allowed to mention names here but the lovely helpful lady who greeted us wrote the directions to the Riad in Arabic on the map and this was great to show the taxi drivers. Riad Yasmine was a lovely place to stay and we'd recommend it to anyone.

Area recommendations
Stay in the Medina. You can walk everywhere and enjoy a truly unique experience. Walk through the new town to the Marjorelle Gardens and see the difference.
