“Five Fun Days at a Genuinely Good Riad”
Le Riad Monceau is situated about a hundred yards from the main square Djemaa El Fna, in the very centre of so much of what makes Marrakech distinctive. It is in the heart of the Medina (old walled city) and the main attractions are walkable, albeit that Marrakech isn't big on signage. Centred around a courtyard pool, as all riads the premises has the good bits facing inwards. The decor is classical, with the restaurant area around the pool. Plenty of comfortable seating, and a roof level area with a few sun beds, sheltered settees and chairs and tables. This was a real treat - after trekking through the souks for a goodly morning, a few hours comfortable R&R certainly helped recovery for the evening out. The restaurant in the riad itself is genuinely excellent, distinctively Morrocan and very much a high quality dining experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Morrocan wines - quite drinkable and well priced for restaurant provision. I went through various tagines, salads and soups during our stay, and I can say they were universally excellent. The staff are genuinely helpful, always keen to please. I did use the hammam for a massage (quite fun), and got the riad to book me a guide for my first day in the Souks. This was valuable, and I recommend it. It got me situated for the rest of the stay. I also ate at places around the square. Decent food, in general, and cheap. Marrakech is what it is; Le Riad Monceau is as good as it gets.
“AMAZING PLACE”
We looked at lots of Riad's online before chosing this one. We were on a 5 day break - we were very very happy with our choice! The Riad really is just like it looks on the web! - the staff are absolutely great, the location is amazing, just off the main square and the Riad is just wonderful - very chilled, very chic and well it's just great! It is also very very near to everything! - we did the cooking class which was really good fun - we bought lots of great things in the markets, watched the snakes, monkeys and stroy tellers in the square (100m from the Riad!) - we eat at the Riad (great!) , at a restaurant called Al Fassia, also great and from one of the stalls in the square which bbq food each evening - that was was superb (and very cheap!) - stay in this Riad as its great and very well located and the staff can't helpenough - we took he horse and carriage from the airport which was just wonderful! This Riad is so much better than a top class hotel! Thanks Le Riad Monceau - we will be back - another world just hours away! (oh and it was 27 degrees in November!)
“Incredible experience”
From our arrival we were pleased. This hotel surpassed our expectations, the design, the staff, the food and especially the location. Very close to the craziness, but a world away . Peaceful and calm. The staff at the hotel was especially helpful in arranging day trips to the mountains and the ocean. Would definitely recommend this as a must for a trip to Marrakech !
“lovely riad, excellent staff but just too hot!”
Beautiful hotel and lovely staff, but I wouldn't stay again- the area is not the best, I didn't want to eat anywhere in the medina, I know it's authentic but I didn't want to risk food poisoning.. our room was very small and the bathroom was small and antiquated, again all very authentic but not quite what I was expecting of a five star establishment...the pool was not big enough to swim in... the air con was very inadequate in the room and wasn't on in the dining room, breakfast was minimal and it was so very hot... we stayed just the one night and then moved to the Sofitel which was proper five star and a real oasis.
“Americans In Morocco!”
With trepidation we arrived in Marrakech to a world we have never seen! First things first: the Medina is controlled chaos! This guest house is a total oasis in the chaos. It is just off the central square. the first time you will never find it. just pay someone $5.00 to guide you there. once inside you feel like you have always lived there. it is tranquil and comfortable. you can eat or relax at the hammam. when you are ready to venture into the medina, it is better to take a tour. if you go on your own take baby steps or leave bread crumbs, but quickly u will learn your way. remember three things: Have lots of coins for tips, english is the third language here and you are not in Kansas so learn someone else's culture. Bargain for everything and settle at half price except for this guest house!
“Fabulous Marrakesh Riad”
A wonderful traditional Riad, just seconds away from the hectic main square of Djemaa el Fna. When you enter the door of the Riad, it is so peaceful that you cannot believe it is so busy outside. The service and food was brilliant, would recommend to anyone and will not hesitate to return, at the first opportunity.
“20/20 for this beautiful boutique with such a genuine homelike feel”
Situated in the very heart of Marrakech’s historical centre this lovely little boutique hotel has the best location you can hope for and offers the warmest welcome. Gorgeous settings, great rooms + nice extras like the small pool laying in the Andalusian patio (open-air interior courtyard), the rooftop terraces / hammam-spa / sundeck and the excellent on-site Moroccan restaurant. The hotel can arrange airport transfers as well as day trips to the nearby mountains. All highly recommended. Felt really safe and pampered. Loved our stay.
“An oasis in Marrakesh”
Really nice staff, extremly helpful
“Brilliant ! Wish we could have stayed longer”
That was a very short stay on our way to South Morocco but Riad Monceau was a fantastic start to our trip. Really nothing to complain about: this little luxury hotel is just pure gem. The hotel is set in a beautiful 18th century riad, wonderfully refurbished and perfectly kept. The location right off old Marrakech main square is definitely a huge bonus. Unbeatable. Our room was lovely, comfortable, nicely furnished and had an amazing full en suite bathroom. Perfect romantic gateway. Would definitely go back.
“A stylish Christmas Present”
Booked a 4 night break in December 2010 as a Christmas present for our Son and his Australian girlfriend [we also accompanied them]. Hotel was excellent, lovely staff, food and suites. Cookery course was excellent so were the spa treatments. If you want to be in the midst of the Medina but want the escapism of an oasis, this is certainly the place to stay.
