Disappointing Stay at Hotel Mariem: Lack of Amenities, Restrictive Policies, and Unpleasant Staff Experience My recent stay at Hotel Mariem was marred by various disappointments, ranging from the absence of basic amenities to encountering rude and unpleasant staff members. The lack of essential amenities such as a kettle, iron, and slippers, both in-room and available upon request, significantly detracted from the overall comfort of the stay. Additionally, the hotel's restrictive policy prohibiting outside food and drinks left guests with limited dining options and a sense of frustration. Adding to the dissatisfaction was the demeanor of the staff members, who were described as rude and unpleasant to interact with. This negative interaction further compounded the already disappointing experience, making the stay at Hotel Mariem less than enjoyable. Despite potential improvements in accommodation quality, the lack of essential amenities and the presence of unfriendly staff members overshadow any positive aspects of Hotel Mariem. Prospective guests should consider these factors before booking their stay at this establishment.

The hotel facility is nice but needs upgrading. The night staff did not have access to a computer to verify the online booking. There was a water pressure problem in the room. The bathroom sink only had a trickle of water. The shower pressure went and up and down all the time. The bed sheets were old and stained. They were cleaned but old, overused and stained. The mattress however, was comfortable to sleep on.

I was very happy with everything from the friendly staff to the welcoming warm atmosphere. Food was beyond this world having a wide range of choices to choose from. The rooms and hotel itself was exceptionally clean and i couldnt have asked for a better stay. I would also like to give a huge thank you to the wonderful receptionist jamila who has made my stay a pleasure.

Seemed really nice at first (pools, hair dryer, etc), but then you start looking around and realize half the lights don’t work, there is only one outlet 6 feet up, the tub doesn’t drain and one of your windows don’t lock. We called the front desk and told them about the shower not draining. They said they would send someone, but they never did. Then we told them in person, they said someone would look at it, but I still ended up taking a shower in 6” of standing water.

fine for a quick stop over
Good location if you are wanting to be out of the main centre. A bit tired and shappby especially the rooms, with most of our group complaining they had a strong sewerage smell (although most of Morrocco does to be honest). Good reception and breakfast and pool is a nice addition although pool person didn't appear keen to let guests have sun longers. Wouldn't want to spend more than one or 2 nights here but would probably say that about most places in Marrakesh.

This is the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in. The rooms are very dark and uncomfortable and a real bad smell from the sewage. The AC also didn’t work. The charging sockets were loose and dangerous and had to kick them for the to work.The breakfast was also really bad.

Great way to end a trip
Good location close to many nice restaurants and inexpensive food stands that were very clean and friendly. A similar hotel in USA would cost 3 times as much so a great value. Free breakfast was omelets to order, pancakes, many fruits, many fresh pastries, fresh squeezed orange juice, several fresh salads and more. Air conditioning worked great and beds were comfy. It’s a great break from staying in a Riad where air conditioning is extremely limited or non existent and beds are beautiful but old and lumpy. Most people are happy with one or two nights in a Riad then prefer a hotel for the duration.

Dependable Hotel
Easy walking distance to a lot of places such as local restaurants, small shops, money exchange, and market. Rooms are basic and clean. The bell man was very helpful in getting a group of us a taxi. Not exactly in the center but easily walkable to Djemaa El Fna. Train station is nearby. Thank you.

The room is very, their is an ac conditioning in a while but in few hours dont work again. The door did not work, the lift is not working all over our stay. The other staff are nice and others are nice. The breakfast is the same everyday which not good. Not good to stay in this hotel

Reasonable place to stay.
Reasonably comfortable though breakfast is of poor quality. Hotel is quite central to most places to visit. The room we stayed in had a separate bathroom and toilet. Toilet had no handwashing facility which was not nice.

Quiet Night
This hotel was clean, the spa was great, and it was conveniently located adjacent to the train station. Great deal for 45USD. The pool was cold and the breakfast was a lot of bread (typical for Moroccan breakfasts), but it was a lovely stay.

Decent hotel close to train station
Within walking distance of train station. Also if u don't mind walking a bit you can get to other famous sites by foot. As in souks, square, Palace, tombs. The beds were comfortable, the room amenities were a little lacking but acceptable. The breakfast buffet was good.

Pay a liutle more and choose elsewhere
Overall was a satisfactory stay, the people staff were ok'ish ( apart from the car parking attendant, tipped him 5 dirham and he thre it back in my lap) annoying thing was i asked for a safe, and they said its 20 Dihram per day, it says car parking is included in the hotel, u parking on a curve outside the hotel and 75% u never find parking and have to end up parking on opposite side and paying for car park, theres two swimming pools and they both always cold. The showed nice photos of the rooms and enterance hall, but never showed any photos of balcony, we were staying in junior suite, and the balcony view was absloutely disgusting, there was rubbish all behind the hotel, basically it was an empty land behind the hotel with full of rubbish. Very very poor When it came to breakfast, it was same every day, boiled eggs, crossiants, sweet crossiants, salami (very very dry) and juices and tea, very basic. I definitely would say its more like 2-3 star hotel ! I advice people Pay a bit extra and choose else where

It is a closest hotel from the station in Marakech. Breakfast is nice. Pool is beautiful. But you can ise wifi only at the reception.

There are thousands of hotels in Marrakech so unless you're on a tight budget I wouldn't choose this particular hotel. There was nothing specifically wrong with it and the location was quite central but it was just very basic. At the end of the day, we got what we paid for... Not very much.

Most of the staff were rude or just indifferent, they tried to stop some of our group bringing water into our room as well. Breakfast (and from what we heard from other patrons, other meals too) was horrible we went out when we needed a decent breakfast. Rooms were nice, pool was average and the Internet connection was only available in public places and then only if there weren't too many people using it.

What you pay for
Nice friendly hotel with complimentary breakfast. Didn't receive any information when we checked in about breakfast times or wifi etc so had to ask for this. The hotel wouldn't call anyone for a taxi-instead telling us to stand on the street and wave one down which did seen a little odd. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the air con was a life saver! The pool doesn't get much sun as the buildings are quite tall so we had to rotate round quite a lot

Beware of the bathroom. Very old hotel and bathroom seems dirty. Not the best hotel, but fine for the price and good location. NO wifi in the room, which is annoying. I wouldn't really recommend it. The service is very informal and most of them don't speak english. Seems like a hotel out of the road.

Not a 4 star, hotel needs a room revamp
The location is great close to the railway station, good selection of shops and restaurants, a bit of a walk from Jama el Fana and souks but cheap enough to get a small taxi for 15+ dirhams. Given i'm not want to complain and do believe in what you get is what you pay for, but this was a serious disappointment in comparison to the many other 4 stars I have stayed in, including in Morocco. The bad bits this is definitely not a 4 star, gym is rubbish as is the sauna and steam room which you need to pay extra for even if you are a guest, the breakfast is extremely standard again not a 4 star, the rooms need updating there is no heating for the cold nights - im from a cold UK but it does really get cold at night in certain months, shower is bad you need to hold it and doesnt drain quick enough standing in the fallen water, flush works after pushing in the right position a few times, wifi is extremely poor and works only in the main reception if it works, overall if you want a cheap budget hotel with just a room this is the place but for what you can get by paying just a little extra i.e. a real 4 star for me it wasnt worth it and wouldnt recommend it. On a plus note it is family friendly and has 2 pools.

Room was very large and clean. Beds really comfortable. No alcohol or food from outside allowed into the hotel. Close to new town but a 40 min walk or 10 min taxi to Medina. Breakfast bland and same every day. Often not replenished. Soft drinks from hotel very pricey as were excursions offered. 4 or 5 times the price of other hotels or travel companies.

Absolutely horrible hotel
Arrived and reception staff not helpful. Hard a sick child and not concerned . First room was dark,small and filthy, sheets dirty, floor and bathroom foul.mm moved us to another 'block' bigger room non smoking but stank of smoke. Bathroom smelt sour and old. Wifi terrible, pool dark. The loungers all five of them broken , breakfast terrible, asked about safe in room , charged a daily rate to use it! No air con in reception area where you could use wifi so hot, Do not use this hotel it is not even an1 star I have stayed in better youth hostels!

I booked and paid for the hotel via Expedia but at check in I was told there was no room and that they had relocated me to another hotel. At the other hotel I was made to wait 2 hours before they could give me a room. What a shambles!!

Close to train station
Nice hotel with nice swimming pools. Good outdoor atmosphere. Walking distance to town and to the train station only a few blocks. Breakfast buffett was pretty good with lots of options, better than other hotels I stayed in. I got this room at a special price so i was pleased with the room and the breakfast. Great value even after paying the addittional taxes of about 40 durhams or about $5.
