Great property and great location - I would definitely recommend. The only thing to point out - Sausalito has terrible network coverage (at least Verizon) and the hotel wifi was hit or miss - iPad connected just fine but my phone did not.

This is a lovely, safe, quiet place to stay in the Bay Area. It is right near the ferry to San Francisco, and it's a peaceful commute into the city. I'm glad the Casa Madrona was an option. The rooms were bright and nice, wiith a few of the bay, and the front-desk folks were great. This is in one of the richest areas in the US, so you expect to pay a high price for it. But the cost of the hotel seemed excessive. It doesn't have breakfast or lobby amenities. The spa and gym areas were cramped, and didn't open until 7 AM. (The steam room was on the fritz when we were there.) Sausalito doesn't have many good restaurants, unlike SF. The Bay Area doesn't get as many tourists as it once did, so, despite the high cost of living there, you'd think there would be better hotel deals. Still, it was enjoyable and hassle-free.

The rooms had no sound protection from the noises from the street. Could hear every car, every person walking on the sidewalk. If you plan on sleeping in, 6am would be around the average time. Garbage trucks and street sweepers come by every day. The room adjacent, we could hear every conversation. Found ants in room over our 2 night stay. Ear plugs are an absolute must. When checking out, hotel management only comped resort fee.

We are sorry to hear your stay with us did not meet your expectations! Around this time of year ants are very prevalent in the area and can be nearly impossible to avoid. We do our best to maintain and clean the rooms and the surrounding area to best avoid this issue. Usually rooms on the lower end of the property are subject to the public street noises. I would recommend booking rooms on our contemporary side or higher up on the property in order to not be affected by surrounding noise. Again, we do apologize and hope to make it up to you in the future!

Room was lovely though small. Coffee machine in room but would have loved if they offered morning coffee in the lobby. Overall we had a very nice stay and would go back.
