“Best Outside of Manzanillo”

Excellent facilities especially the pool. About 45 minutes outside of Manzanillo but worth the haul. Lovely marina harbor as view for most rooms.

“Beautiful, tropical paradise”

Our stay was extremely relaxing and was just what we needed to refresh ourselves after a cold/wet Pacific Northwest winter. We highly recommend taking the water taxi over to Barra De Navidad and taking in dinner and sunset from the incredible beachfront restaurants. We never had a bad meal or dissapointing sunset.

Take the water taxi over to Barra De Navidad for shopping, sight seeing and eating.

“Best Golf in all of Mexico”

Who would think that an isolated corner of the Mexican Pacific coast would be home to two of the most beautiful golf course facilities in all of Mexico! Isla Navidad Golf course is a 27 hole facility that is secluded, totally private, immaculately kept and a wonderful, impressive golf facility. Add to Isla the proximity of Tamarindo Golf Course, (25 miles/30 minute drive) to an 18 hole dream-like course built on a nature preserve, with stunning ocean-view holes, incredible wildlife and a beautifully maintained golf course and you have what one of my colleagues called this place after a few days: "Disneyland for Golfers!!" If you like to play golf on beautiful, manicured golf courses, like great fresh seafood and the best service and clean facilities do not miss visiting the Grand Bay Hotel Isla Navidad, the golf courses, the best fishing in the world and great Mexican hospitality

Area recommendations

Definetely recommend visiting Colimilla, a tiny, quaint fishing villa right off of the resort, where they sell the freshest, most exquisite seafood, prepared the "old-fashioned" way right in front of your eyes. Also a visit to nearby Barra de Navidad where you can catch some of the best body surfing waves anywhere in Mexico and of course a visit to Tamarindo resort for either gfolfing, the spa or any of the nature preserve activities (zip line, trekking, mountain biking, nature walks, photographing of wildlife, etc.)

When to go

Only two seasons there: Rainy season (also called winter there) and Dry season (or the Northern Hemisphere's winter). Weather from November through May is wonderful as there is very little rain, beautiful mid 80's daytime weather and nightime lows into the mid 60's brrrr!

“Excellent location and service in beautiful relax area”

If you want to relax and enjoy great view with excellent weather. This hotel is the best place to be. It is a 2 min crossing by boat to the town to nice restaurants, bars and fun. But there is not plenty to do if you want to go for party. The hotel has a marina and a small beach with small waves. Hamacs to enjoy the view at the beach. Enjoy this great hotel and people who work on it.

Area recommendations

Barra de Navidad is a small town with great food and bars where to have fun. There are small towns close to the hotel with beautiful beaches and can get there walking on the beach or by taxi. The marina at the hotel is a great location for your boat if you like fishing and enjoy the pacific ocean.

“wonderful hotel, wonderful staff.”

We have been to the Grand Bay 3 times now. Each and every stay has been wonderful. From the moment of arrival the hotel staff great you with a fresh washcloith to freshen up with and a refreshing beverage to drink while they check you in. The rooms all have a view be it the ocean bay or marina. It is a great place to stay overall.

Area recommendations

Take a water taxi across the lagoon to Barra de Navidad and enjoy local restaurants beach front bars and local shops.

“Manzanillo's ONLY 5 star Hotel”

We have been to the Grand twice now and it is an extremly beautiful resort with all the amenities. This Hotel and area are one of my Favorite retreats in Mexico. If you are into the Ocean, I would not suggest this location, as it is in a bay area and their are not any waves - you have to go over to Barra De Navidad for a day at the beach if you are looking for an Ocean experience.

Traveller's tip

If you're driving at night, street signs are not very clear. There is a 1 mile paved road from the highway that can be scary at night (no lights) and you won't see any construction so you might get the impression you're going the wrong way.
