Great location. Full of history.

Posted 20-Apr-2015
Pros: The history and building made the stay different. Free wi fi.
Cons: Although both restaurants had good ratings the atmosphere at Mr Coopers was odd and Ididn't fancy the 10 course tasting menu at The French.
Location: It is very near the historic town hall and next to the convention centre. In walking distance of most things.
The staff at this hotel were lovely and they reflect the people of Manchester. I did feel a little like Miss Marple with all the cream teas, piano music and soft chairs. The hotel and room felt spacious. I was aware that the hotel had seen grander days but this didn't spoil anything as I had a good deal with Expedia. Easy transport links.

Hotel d'époque

Posted 16-Apr-2015
Pros: Architecture, positionnement

Lived up to expectations

Posted 15-Apr-2015
Pros: Helpful, friendly staff, cocktails, very comfortable bed. Interesting dinner in Mr Cooper's.
Cons: Two things were a bit small - the bath (but everything else about the bathroom fine) and the breakfast tables were too small for maps and newspapers!
Location: Perfect location: next to a Metro stop, next door to wonderful new Central Library, close to theatres, concert hall, shops, Oxford Rd station.
I've wanted to stay here since I was a child - it was the 'posh' hotel my Mum pointed out on trips to Manchester. I thought I lived too close to have an excuse to stay - but one arose, so I did, and it was as good as expected. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the cocktails were fantastic (never knew black lava salt existed before having a 'South of the Border', explained by an impressively-knowledgeable waiter), and the room was excellent. A most enjoyable stay.

Very nice city centre hotel

Posted 08-Apr-2015
Lovely hotel but Manchester centre is rife with beggars and street crime so keep your wits about you. We had an ipad mini stolen from us while shopping in Trafford Centre and got negligible help from police as these occurences are so frequent apparently. Appreciate this is not city centre but found atmosphere quite intimidating at times with very little police presence on streets.

Pros: The size of the bed
Cons: Temperature control with the air conditioning units.
Beautiful Hotel and Perfect Location, however the air conditioning seemed determined not to work and pumped out hot air all day and night - even though it was on the coldest setting - despite the bed being very comfy, the temperature of the room made the whole experience very uncomfortable.

Dated, room with no view 5th floor Cleaning issues

Posted 23-Mar-2015
For the price, room was a disappointment. No view from 5th floor, toilet dirty and bath full upon arrival- nothing special- feel would have got better value at budget hotel across the street

Sentralt, med atmosfære.

Posted 16-Mar-2015
Pros: Stilfullt.

nice hotel for a weekend leisure break

Posted 09-Mar-2015
Pros: The staff were polite, friendly, welcoming and very helpful and very knowledgeable. The rooms were spacious and spotless.
Cons: Internet speed was slow and sometimes stopped.
Location: There are plenty of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants near bye, theatres are also close by and plenty of transport options.
The hotel was great was very grand and tastefully decorated. The rooms were really spacious and spotless. The staff were very helpful and polite and could not do enough for you. There was also loads to do in Manchester there were plenty of shops near by and things to do and see. The city is great for shoppers, nightlife, and also foodies as there is all kinds of different cuisine to choose from.

Disappointed

Posted 08-Mar-2015
Pros: It was clean
Cons: Air con. The French restaurant was over-rated and they served our party of eight as though it was two tables of four. Not a great dining experience
Location: Manchester City Centre, lots of shops, places to eat, we had breakfast at San Carlo Ciccheti in House of Fraser, it was great.
The room was fine but there was no mirror on the dressing table / desk so if you wanted to dry your hair you had to stand in front of the wardrobes. The windows did not open in the room and the room was warm, when you turned the air conditioning cooler the noise meant you couldn't sleep. Very disappointed.
