“Lovely hotel - ticked all the boxes for us”
Great location, lovely, clean and friendly. Convenient for getting to concerts at the MEN Arena - just hopped on the tram stop outside the hotel £1.20 return to the Arena - can't fault it !!
“Tired, middle of the road hotel.”
It's ok, but for the price nothing special. Good location but the room was average and the check-in staff rude, disinterested and unhelpful. For a mid-range option in Manchester there are much better alternatives (eg Abode or Mint hotel by Piccadilly).
“Nice hotel poor restaurant service”
The hotel was generally very nice, but we ate in the Wyvern restaurant in the evening, mainly because the website says how good it is. We had a medium rare steak (£21) which was so rare as to be bleeding. Sent back to grill for another 5 mins, and then waited 10 mins for them to cook a complete new meal, I had finished my meal by then so we both ate alone! The 2nd steak was excellent. Then decided to treat ourselves with a brandy (£7.00) each which came with ice! When I took it back to the bar they proceeded to remove the ice with tongs, until I complained. No apologies for either event. Staff seemed not to know the etiquette of service even at the prices which were being charged. I would stay at the hotel, but not eat there. Because of the experience we avoided breakfast, and went to a really nice deli aroud the corner.
“Great Hotel in Manchester”
Great Hotel, no issues!
“Never thought I'd Like Manchester”
Fantastic stay in a great hotel. Always wanted toi stay at the Midland with its heritage and had a great time doing so. Food was fantastic and the staff very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the proximity to the town hall clock, but, at least I knew what the time was.
“upgrade”
Upgrade highly recommended, very good experience and relaxing only problem breakfast busy and not offered tea or coffee both mornings and once in my previous visits. However would book again when next in Manchester.
“not particularly impressed”
Recently stayed here for best friend's wedding. Room was somewhat disappointing - rather small and bed was tiny for a supposed double. Parking near the hotel is horrendous. Spa was not open on a sunday and room service took forever to respond to call. Oh, and the drinks prices at the bar are astronomically expensive. A somewhat tired old hotel that's had its day. Not that impressed, all in all.
“top quality hotel”
fantastic hotel situated in the city center and within walking distance to everything we wanted to do and staff very friendly.
“Go see the Red Devils”
Great hotel, cool architecture. Weak service in the hotel restaurant...but not inconsistent with what I found all around England compared to what I expect.
“Rooms Not Quite Four Star”
Beautiful lobby and exterior architecture of hotel. Very helpful and courteous staff, especially concierge. Gave us great info on where to eat, best way to travel , maps. Rooms do not "match" in comparison to how fancy lobby is. Older rooms, not very comfortable. Small TV with limited channels. Limited views from windows since small and high up. Updated modern bathrooms with towel warmers. Off site valet parking available. Free one or two hour internet access.
