“Unhelpful and arrogant”
Due to adverse weather conditions our flights were cancelled and we were unable to make the trip. The hotel were not at all understanding of these extenuating circumstances and refused to move or refund the booking. It's not just the refusal to assist that was a problem as we understand there are rules it was the terrible arrogant attitude of the staff delivering the message. We won't be giving our custom to this chain again.
“Great hotel, shame about the breakfast service”
Had a lovely stay until extreamley poor service at breakfast. Waited 45 mins for our english breakfast before it arrived and then it was cold - it had obviously been standing waiting to be served as our poached eggs were solid. When asked if we could have a fresh breaskfast the waitress huffed off with no apology. The restaurant wasn't full and many people were served before us. We got the short straw with our waitress. It spoiled our stay.
“Great location, fab room”
Booked this hotel to take my wife to a gig for her birthday, close to HMV Ritz and good choice of pubs in the area. Just across the road from Chinatown where we had a good thai meal. City centre shops only 5 mins walk away. And the room... the bed was so comfy I had a the best sleep in months!
“Oasis in Manchester”
The location could not be better; right in the middle of town with plenty of pubs bars and restaurant on the doorstep. The hotel is of a very high standard and the staff act as if they own the place, which means the service is excellent. It has become 'my hotel' in Manchester.
“Decent Digs”
Had a brief, pleasant stay there. The room was cozy and comfortable, and the bathroom was really nice. The hotel's interior is generically modern, which was surprising given that it's housed in a pretty, older building. The location is convenient: in walking distance from the train station and most of Manchester's major neighborhoods. And I found more interesting restaurants and clubs by venturing out the hotel's surrounding neighborhood. On the whole, a good experience, but I might try somewhere else next time.
“Got sent to another hotel not the one we booked!!!”
We arrived in Manchester for a one night stay to visit the theatre, we picked the Town House due to it's location. It took us 45 minutes to locate the hotel then the reception. When we finally got to reception we were told that we were not staying at that hotel we had been moved to the sister hotel, no apologies or explanations were forthcoming. Back in the car again to find the next hotel, this took a further 30 minutes then 25 minutes to check in. Not very impressive when you are only staying for the one night the afternoon was wasted finding hotels. The second hotel was not in a good location but overall in better condition with better rooms than the one we booked.
“Everything we were looking for”
Wanted a nice hotel in central Manchester for our short break, and this provided everything we wanted. Could walk to where we wanted to go and the place was still shiny after its recent refurb. Massive comfortable bed, nice bathroom and plenty of space. Based on the relative prices of other hotels this was a winner.
“Not the Princess hotel”
main criticism is that the hotel still has the name 'Princess Hotel' displayed on a large sign which you see as you approach, so of course I couldn't find it! The new name was to be found on the windows and quite small - but you don't see it because you already think its not what you're looking for. They really do need to change that. And the entrance is a bit weird, because you have to look for the reception desk which is not at the most obvious door. For a hotel that's just been refurbished the carpets were a tad scruffy too. But I'd be happy to go back.
“Excellent amenities and service”
My wife and I stayed for 1 night for the Kylie concert. We thought the price we paid for a Manchester city centre hotel on a Saturday night was pretty good value. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the amenities in the room. We were given a corner room on the 4th floor with double aspect windows including a view down Portland Street. The quality of the bathroom and bedroom fitments could not be faulted. We also received excellent customer service in all our interactions with staff. Special mention goes to Harvey who, I believe, is a manager. We had several conversations and he was at pains to ensure our stay was an enjoyable one. On the slight downside, I've marked down on surrounding neighbourhood because we were woken 3 times during the night by police sirens and drunkards singing outside in the street. However, this was outside the control of the hotel and, I suppose, has to be expected on a Saturday night in a busy city centre. I would also mention that the prices quoted for breakfast were £12.95 if booked the night before or £15.00 on the day. We declined and ate a hearty breakfast for about £4.50 each at a smart coffee lounge a couple of minutes away. I can never quite understand why city centre hotels quote those prices for breakfast when you can eat for a fraction of the cost in nearby cafes / restaurants. Overall, a very pleasant stay and we would return again.
“Good value, well located hotel.”
I have now stayed at this hotel 3 times. This time I had to change the room I needed at fairly short notice and they were very helpful with this. I haven't eaten here as there are so many places to eat close by. It is very close to China Town with loads of restaurants to chose from there. It is easy walking distance to Manchester Piccadilly. On this occasion I was at a concert in the MEN Arena and it is easy to walk there too. There are lots of mini-supermarkets open late at night in easy reach.
