“Good base”
We only needed an overnight stay for a rugby game at Old Trafford and were pleased with this hotel. Description slightly misleading - we understood it was actually within airport terminal but it's a 5 min walk away, though the hotel does offer free shuttle service. Bed comfy, room clean though missing a bin!!! Were late back so ordered room service - prompt delivery, excellent food though more expensive than if we had eaten in Manchester itself. Shower best of any hotels we have stayed in - actually a proper shower as opposed to the usual feeble dribbles. Staff friendly and helpful - booked a taxi for us which arrived very quickly. Would recommend for an overnight stay.
“just a really nice place to rest your head.....”
My wife and I love this hotel and use it A LOT! It is in a perfect location for Manchester airport, and a great stop off between flights. The food is good, the people fantasic and the gym more than adequate. Another big factor is that you can open a window( more and more unusual in this day and age). I have travelled a lot and would safely say this is one of the best hotels in the world for value for money. The worry is we stay so often it has started to feel like home!
“Manchester Airport”
If you're flying out of Manchester Airport early in the morning the Crowne Plaza is good value overnight accommodation. There are no frills or extras in this busy location but at least you can depend on the Crowne Plaza brand.
“pricey for 4 star ?”
A pricey hotel for 4 star standards at for the quality it offers – it is just about ok. The reception staff really did not seem to be genuinely interested in welcoming guests. The room I stayed (stayed in a standard run of the mill guest rooms) are small though they offer most facilities one would expect to find in a 4 star hotel. Internet access comes with a hefty £20 per-day price tag. The rooms are kept nice and tidy and in an appreciable condition, but overall, the hotel is showing signs of ageing. The restaurant (pan-Asian) and breakfast were really good - and would recommend, again priced a bit on the high end. Bear in mind that this is an airport hotel and there isn't much to do outside of the hotel since Manchester airport, like most other airports are placed in the middle of no where.
“Overpriced travel lodge, watch out for parking charges”
This hotel was ideally located right next to the airport but does not come accross as four star, other than the charges. Room was tiny, dated and very basic - I have stayed in better travel lodges to be fair. Watch out for charges - parking was £10 for one night which I could have got cheaper through airport parking if I had of known I was going to be charged - I was not told anywhere on the booking. Bar prices were extortionate - I was charged £7 for a glass of Jacobs Creek Merlot. Reception staff weren't very helpful as they looked too rushed off their feet. This is a very busy hotel with all walks of life - not the four star it claims to be.
