Not the best hotel

Posted 02-Jul-2015
Pros: The only thing about this hotel that I could say I liked was the fact that the bar prices were fair
Cons: Knock it down and rebuild otherwise at the very least re-carpet and get new cleaning staff
Staff were abrupt and not very helpful the carpets in both the hallways and bedrooms were badly stained and had seen better days. Slept on top of the bed with clothes on out of sheer exhaustion after a very long day and needed to be at the airport early. wasn't taking the chance to get into the bed after literally sticking to the carpet. would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I trave frequent from Manchester. Premier inn was full, so I stayed here. The good: Room clean and bed fine. Perfect location for the airport. Parking free. The bad: Dated. Scruffy. Restaurant-chose to give this a miss and drive down the road.

Hotel not far from airport

Posted 01-Jun-2015
Pros: nothing
Cons: Hotel needs a major refurb both in the common area and the rooms.
Location: nothing
Finding the place was easy but the car park was a nightmare. Cars were parked all over the place, the car park is dirty. The reception was ok and check in was efficient but according to the signage on the floor my room number did not exist. The carpet in the room was dirty, the outside window could not be shut and hence let a lot of noise in. The matress was way too soft and therefore extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly and there was still hair around. The hotel looks very dated and could do with a refurb. There was no wifi reception in the room.

A bad experience

Posted 05-Apr-2015
I booked a double bed smoking room, was given a twin bed room. They changed it to a non smoking double room because the other smoking rooms were being painted. At night the water from the shower was Luke warm, the next day engineer came to look at it and said it was a big job amd will take time to fix. Was given a third bedroom which was the same. Then got moved to a 4th bedroom which was a smoking room. Had a bath but the shower was totally out of order, didn't complian as if had enough. Just stayed the night and checked out the next day. Staff were very helpful though, and the manager gave me a discount for the 3rd night and 2 free breakfasts.

Not really Manchester Airport

Posted 31-Mar-2015 on Hotels
Firstly, this hotel shouldn't be advertised as Manchester airport, it's a £10 taxi away from the airport or £20 if you get the driver who took me half way into the city. The hotel itself was ok, looks like it might have been nice once upon a time, but a bit tired looking now. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Nice airport hotel for overnight.

Nice hotel. I Little bit overpriced for a 2*. The rooms have mostly old TVs and the shower is not the best. The rooms are fairly comfortable and clean and the service was very good. When I asked for a digital box for my TV they had it sorted. It is very close to the airport and you need to book a shuttle but it works ok.

Not great.

Posted 27-Mar-2015 on Hotels
Last minute booking due to an early flight out of Manchester. Not a restful night. The room was a bit tired looking but reasonable condition but the bed in particular was not clean. I accidentally removed the bedsheet when pulling back the duvet and at that point decided I was not sleeping on top of that mattress! There was a large qty of dust and some debris under the bed itself where it had not been vacuumed properly. Convenient location next to the main road meant quite a bit of traffic noise during the night if you are on the wrong side of the hotel. On the plus side the access to Manchester Airport was good.

Britannia Airport Hotel, Manchester - don't go!

Posted 23-Mar-2015 on Hotels
I tried to contact this hotel before leaving this review but there is no apparent email address. I stayed on Sunday 15 March. The bathroom was freezing, the heated towel rail did not work, when I enquired I was told that there was a hotel policy of not heating the bathrooms as a guest had previously burned themselves on the towel rail - it was 4 degrees in Manchester last Sunday evening. I ran a bath, the water was barely tepid. The TV didn't work, someone came and moved some wires and it eventually started, I was told to hold the remote control right up against the set to get it to work however during a phone call I tried to turn the sound down with the remote control with no success and when I turned the TV off I couldn't get it back on. The bedding was clean but the carpet in the room desperately needed to be shampooed. The carpet on the corridors was filthy. The only positive I can say about this hotel is that the staff were helpful and pleasant. It certainly is not of three star standard
