“Bad choice”
I have stayed at the hotel for tow night, first it tooks me about an hour to find it because the name on of the hotel on the e mail I received was different from what was wroten on the hotel .the hotel loooks old the room was ok the bad was clean and comfortable ,the cup was dirty and the room was dusty .I phoned the reception to ask for iron and ironing bord ,and I have been told to come down to collect it and bring a 10£ deposit and I have explained to thE receptionist that I have a 11 months baby and I can't leave him alone and the answer was ,we have no one to bring it up for you.
“Maybe...”
We stayed twice during the same week. Supposedly both times in the same accomodation. First time - very small room, double bed pushed against the wall, a tv that didn't work, hair in bathroom sink, toothpaste on the counter and dirty cups in the room. Three days later large, clean room, clean bathroom, and working tv. Both times standard, not economy room....very different impressions. Our children shared a second room with twin beds similar good standard during both stays.
“Not satisfied”
This hotel has seen better days. Very old looking. Mattress was past it's expiry date, very lumpy and soft. Room was not cleaned properly. There was a cigarette butt in the bathroom with ashes on the floor. This indicated to me that the room was not adequately cleaned prior to occupation. There was one elevator out of 3 working in the hotel. Overall poor quality and definitely not a 3 star hotel by any means.
“Britannia Airport”
Hotel seems to be geared to travelers spending a single night, due to airport proximity. We usually stay for 10-14 days, as the location is perfect for us with family nearby. Oddly, our room key card usually locks us out several times per visit - we've never been able to figure out why, since we've prepaid our entire stay. Housekeeping is somewhat inconsistent (forgetten towels, soap, tissues, tea bags) but rooms are comfortable (middle-of-the-road). Recommended based on location only.
“Please upgrade me!”
I last stayed in this hotel in 2000 and was surprised to find that 10 years later not much had changed. After a rest following 26 hours traveling from Australia I convinced myself that given the price I paid perhaps my expectations were initially too high. I generally used the hotel as just somewhere to sleep and for that requirement it met my needs. The room was satisfactory but the carpets were worn and old and needed replacement or at least a deep clean. I found the bed quite comfortable and the bedding clean (and changed regularly). The bathroom was ok but the shower was quite weak and the heated towel rail didn't work. Windows were filthy (from outside) and the furniture was dated and in need of replacement. The TV was ancient and temperamental - analogue with a basic digi box; come on! WiFi connectivity was available in the room which was useful. The car park was cramped and at times difficult to park in and was in a filthy state (used condoms and excessive bird-poo were noticeable features!). Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast at 7GBP was as expected but over-priced. Overall, this conveniently located hotel is fine but I was on my own for this visit and don't think I could stay for more than a couple of nights with my family. I used to live in Manchester and this hotel once a good reputation as a modern place to stay (when it was the Post House) however, to bring it up to meet the expectations of the modern traveller it needs a huge overhaul.
“Handy to Airport”
Average hotel, reasonably comfortable. Located right in Northenden, close to Didsbury. Offers convenient shuttle service to airport (not free).
“Would not return”
Hotel was old and dearly in need of upkeep and update. Rooms were not as clean as expected. Very dingy and dark. Staff was very good however and this was a redeeming factor.
“Ok for a night”
The Britannia Airport hotel, ex Post House, is quite well located for access and convenience. However there are very few local facilities, within walking distance. There is a regular bus service into Manchester city centre, and it is on the night bus route. The hotel is showing its age, as are most of the fixtures and fittings in the rooms. The room was cool in the evening and freezing in the morning, even though the heating was supposed to be on. Breakfast was pretty good, and the staff were quite friendly and reasonably helpful. Overall worth the money, for advanced booking, but I wouldn't consider going there if it were charged at full price.
“good choice”
nice quaint hotel.
“normal, comfortable with a normal restaurant”
The hotel is quite standard but the price is low. It is a clean hotel. The people in the main desk is nice and they help you about everything. The restaurant is quite poor. They never replied the phone.
