This is about our fourth time at this hotel. Can't beat this hotel with its waterfall wave pool, excellent breakfast buffet, great food, it's own zoo, wonderful grounds, activities and staff - a true gem!
Our room at the Lord Manaus was adequate for the price. We only had a top and fitted sheet...no spread or blanket, even though we requested them. The decor was dated. The bathroom and shower were the nicest parts of the room.
The complimentary breakfast in the dining room was excellent and made our stay much more pleasant. This is an ok hotel for the price especially if you travel like we do and spend very little time in the room. The location is in the middle of the commercial district which was very active during the day and very isolated and a little scary at night. We walked to other old town destinations during the day but took cabs back to the hotel at night. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful...except that we never got the requested bedspread/blanket.

The Taj in Manaus is terrible - it isn't even 3star despite claiming 5star status. Arrived at 5pm to be told our room wasn't ready. Well, we were told that EVENTUALLY. Tried to go for a beer at the bar, which wasn't open. The room was OK when we finally got to it, but don't get your hopes up regarding the "pool" it's a tiny thing on the roof and is very tatty, as is the rest of the hotel. We also got caught in that despite booking in Pounds, Expedia had sent the booking through as Dollars and the Taj wanted it paid in Real. So we have been stung twice for currency exchange costs (not all their fault). The only good thing, they allowed us to leave our bags after check-out for free (which was a surprise). Terrible hotel,

We stayed here for 1 night and we're quite pleased with it. The hotel is new, so all facilities are in great shape. The staff would benefit from better training by the management, but overall the hotel is still great.
We were very late in arriving but front desk staff person was there to help us. There seemed to be confusion over payment already made to Expedia but when we checked out it appeared to be straightened out. Room was warm initially but cooled down nicely. Breakfast was outstanding with many choices.

The hotel is centrally located. Unfortunately the condition of the room is not the best. The beds were very hard. The pool had no water. Breakfast was ok. The first night and the following day there was no hot water. On the last day the hot water came back. The air conditioner was nicely cold. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. I am sure that with a bit of Tender love and care the hotel would be better. It is not a four star hotel as listed.
