“a lovely stylish hotel”
This hotel is situated in a very cental location in Sliema. It was warm, welcoming and we spent a lovely week there. We would definately stay there again if we go back to Malta
“Couldn't fault a thing.”
Lovely hotel. Good food and a hugely well stocked bar.
“would go back without too much persuasion.”
The hotel is ideally situated and although needing some updating in some areas it is generally very comfotable. The rooms are large and comfortable with very large double beds. Air conditioning could be better in some rooms but fans were available. Food is of a high standard and the staff are very friendly and approachable. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and i would reccomend this to other people. One area to note is that the hotel is better suited to the older clientel and not child orientated although there were some younger people there at the time. It is in a quiet road but close to nearby bus routes and the hotel has its own taxi contract. Cost to the airport 21 euros.
“Victorious Victoria”
Very impressed with the standards at this hotel. Clean with a warm welcome. It offers great value for money, and I think the reason for this is due to its location. If you have an issue with hills then this may not be the hotel for you. Which ever direction you walk you will face the return journey via a steep hill. If walking is not an issue, then it really is an excellent location as via the back streets you can reach the main sea front in no more than five minutes. All of the staff are very friendly and attentive. You will feel at home.
“Would definitely stay again - very good and friendly staff and definitely 4 star.”
The hotel was convenient for the main promenade with a handy shortcut to the ferry crossing to Valetta. Convenient supermarket nearby as well. The breakfast was excellent and the themed dinners well worth trying. It was unusually hot for August and the air conditioning struggled a bit but fans were available. All of the staff were very hospitable and took pride in their work - we felt very welcomed and nothing was too much trouble.
“Great location, but won't suit everyone”
This was my second stay at this hotel and I plan to stay again on my next trip to Malta. I think this hotel offers great value for money. I don't mind walking, so I find this hotel to be in a very convenient location. In one direction you can walk to the shopping area, the Valletta-Sliema ferry, and the new shopping mall at Tigne Point. In the other direction you can head towards St Julian's and on to Paceville and St George's. The hotel is set back from the main road, away from the seafront and up a hill. This is an old-style hotel, so don't expect the same sort of interiors that you would find in a trendy boutique hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are helpful and friendly. There was still only one lift working, so maybe that will become a 'feature' of this hotel. I was able to use the stairs instead, but anyone who has trouble getting around would definitely consider the broken lift to be an inconvenience.
“An excellent, friendly hotel”
We enjoyed our second stay at the Victoria almost more than the first time. It's a friendly, helpful, well run, well appointed hotel in a convenient location, just five minutes from the seafront, transport, shops etc. Facilities include a rooftop pool, an indoor pool, a gym and spa and, very important, there are tea/coffee making facilities in the room! Some rooms have small balconies. A choice of restaurants is available, with special offers for guests. The only slight drawback is the high price of breakfasts but there are plenty of cafes within easy reach.
“Prime location for a good hotel with excellent staff”
good location, all the staff very friendly and helpfull. Did not eat in restaurant as it is buffet style which I will not use but had some snacks in the bar and they were very good. Lifts a bit slow and under capacity but hey you are on holiday. Music in bar in evening usually good but not always. Convenient for walking to shops, buses and restaurants.
“Classic style hotel at a great price”
Classic Victorian styled town hotel with modern facilities. Rooms a little tired around the edges but kept very clean and very comfortable beds. Staff were excellent, very friendly, especially in the Bar, efficient and eager to help when required. Situated in central Sliema it is a very short walk to either the Valleta or St Jullians bay coast lines where buses or ferries are abundant. Both sides have plentifull cafe bars and restuarants to choose from with a wide variety of choice at reasonable prices. If we visit Malta again this hotel will be at the top of our wish list.
“Possibly the best customer service I've ever received”
I've stayed in quite a few hotels over the years, but I can't think of another where I've had such consistently good service. Every member of staff we met was friendly, welcoming, and willing to go the extra mile - from the person at reception who looked up and printed out a friend's address online for us, to the waiter who sent to their sister hotel for some bananas for my wife, when she was too ill to eat breakfast! Hotel was elegant and comfortable - traditional in style. 'Double' bed was two singles pushed together - huge, which was nice, but too big for the bedding! I'm pretty sure the room was upgraded from what we paid for - I hadn't expected the balcony, but appreciated it. Breakfast was very good, as was food in the Penny Black Bar (restaurant was closed while we were there) - just the coffee wasn't great (either at breakfast or the sachets in the room). My wife is coeliac, and they were very good at providing gluten free bread, and advising what she could and couldn't eat from the breakfast buffet. If we go back to Malta, we'll certainly stay in the same hotel.
