We arrived at Sunny Coast Resort at 1.00 am to be told by the night porter that he had some news for us. We would not be staying in Sunny Coast but in a hotel and if we wanted to complain we had to be back at Sunny Coast at 9.00 am the next day. We went to the Topaz Hotel by taxi and arrived at 1.30 am. It was unreasonable to expect us to turn up at Sunny Coast at 9.00 the next day. This holiday was booked on 26th January and taken in August. We were given two adjoining rooms next to the air conditioning units which were noisy. The Topaz Hotel was stated to be 4 star, but was clearly not. The rooms also had a horrible aroma from the drains. On complaining to the rep we were told to speak to reception (he clearly did not want to know). If you are booked to stay at Sunny Coast be sure to arrive early before your room is given to someone else! We are unable to comment on the rooms, etc., because we didn't stay there.

Pros: The staff were really nice and facilities were great.
Cons: Better showers needed. Balcony needs a lick of paint. Toilets need some bleach. Gym should open earlier than 9am.
Location: Brilliant location with good views on the bay.

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel and the room is clean and towels replaced everyday . I also enjoyed swimming in their outside pool.

Good experience. Will highly recommend. Staff are uniformly very very friendly and exceptionally helpful. Appliances in apartment bit dated but nothing to complain. will definitely stay here again if visiting malta.

Nice hotel close to a bus stop and friendly staff

Pros: Friendly staff, Free WiFi in the lobby, Food & the Mini Market
We were there for 6 nights. The hotel is very nice, clean. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. From the bus stop close to the hotel you can go anywhere in Malta with buses. They have free indoor and outdoor swimming pool, free of cost. You get free WiFi in the lobby.

Location: very good location bus stop just outside the hotel , lots of beautiful walks and scenery to see , would definately go again
we had a great time , facilities were great , staff very helpful and friendly , easy access for the buses and for visiting many of the sites , also some great walks

A little tired & short on atmosphere

Pros: Staff were generally polite friendly and helpful, including the housekeeping people.
Cons: The rooms need a facelift and a bit of general maintenance. Some decent pots and pans would be appreciated.
Location: Not much to do locally in low season. Reasonable selection of eating out options within walking distance.
Hotel was easy to miss from the road, not being set apart from other apartment buildings. Leisure facilities were not ajoining, but some distance along the road, as were two of the three restaurants described in the brochure. Sauna was extra and only available with advance booking, so only the pool and jacuzzi were available on demand. Never seen such thin towels. The room was generally clean & presentable, but the loo had a broken hinge and there was large (cosmetic) crack down one of the walls. The cooking utensils were not worthy of a charity shop, but the hob and oven were modern and worked well. We never used the bar because it closed just after 10:00 pm every night, which we found odd. We ended up going to the bar next door. Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby and never in the room (4th floor).
