Reasonable priced ok for what you get.

Pros: Friendly staff and in the centre of mellieha
Cons: Decor update and quieter room. Maybe better balcony furniture as it was cheap plastic and not too comfortable to chill out on.
Location: Centre of town, buses to anywhere, beach good swimming safe. Valletta easy to get to.bugglia very commercialised but everything you need or want!
After long tiring journey would have liked a better welcome instead of having to move to another hotel. We accepted the circumstances and resolved to move then to be told 'its only 5 minutes walk away'. We asked for a cab, which was provided. Then we were told we would have to move back to original hotel the next day. This spoilt the first day of our break as we couldn't relax and unpack. Never mind after this all was well. Room was clean and adequate although the view wasn't as good as 1st hotel (which is why we wanted to remain there). Bed was so hard and uncomfortable and the room was next to an electricity generator so kept us awake (1405). Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful facilities good. We didn't try evening food but prices looked ok. Situation on a steep hill but bus stop right opposite and i would recommend getting the weekly bus tickets very good deal €6.40 and takes you anywhere on the island.

Exceeded Expectation

Posted 19-Jun-2015
Pros: Friendliness of the staff, Helpfulness and suggestions for excursions, lovely spa and pool facilities. Great room and great restaurant facilities
Cons: The bar staff knowing how to make cocktails and for room service to go on a little later. It finishes by 10pm.
Location: Mellieha Bay an easy walk (although get the bus back), the port to Gozo for day trips and the buses are frequent to and from the area to Valletta
The hotel was excellent, all the staff were helpful and friendly. The holiday started brilliantly by being picked up by the hotel. We chose to have the exclusive pick up which though slightly more expensive the experience was second to none. Our driver, Gary, was informative and very funny showing us all the sights on the way to the hotel and gave good advice on places to avoid in respects of tourist traps. He gave great advice on places to eat near the hotel as well (see below). The room was spacious, clean with a lovely little balcony overlooking a quiet little side street leading down towards the bay. We went for the half board option which always has the stigma of british tourists requiring burgers and chips, this couldn't be further from what the hotel has to offer. Every night there is a different theme, local dishes in a buffet style with the chef there carving and cooking specific specials. You have the option of upgrading dinner to the lovely A La Carte menu at La Tosca also in the hotel. The few times we went out of the hotel for food though was definitely worth it. Bouquet Garni, just a small walk from the hotel was EXCEPTIONAL. You have to book as the restaurant is very small and all food is fresh. Therefore stock levels are small but quality is amazing. I cannot recommend it higher. And for the price the 2 of us payed for 3 courses plus a bottle of wine was just superb. (Under 100 Euros)!!! Buses were easy to navigate with and quite comfy if you are seated.

Overall our stay at Solana was great!

Posted 16-May-2015
Overall, our stay at Solana was great. The hotel was as described, the staff was phenomenal, and the location for us was great. We actually stayed for one night through Expedia then another two weeks with our travel exchange club. The hotel staff made the transition so easy for us, helped us book all of our excursions and we had two great days in the spa. The hotel is older, but well maintained for sure. Last but never least, right on the bus line and super easy to get to the south part of the island for 1.50 euro for an all day ticket!

Hotel mit gutem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis

Posted 04-May-2015 on Hotels

Short Stay in the sun

Posted 16-Apr-2015 on Hotels
Despite having to be moved on arrival for our first night to another hotel (at 1:30 ish in the morning)due to a 'maintenance issue', when we got back to the solana the remainder of our stay was delightful. Staff were very helpful and polite throughout. Easy bus connetions from just outside the hotel were great too!

great last minute booking

Posted 08-Apr-2015
Pros: The comfortable beds, food and staff.
Cons: Better double glazing at front of hotel to sound proof the noise from the road.
Location: Not a very good area for parking but excellent bus route. Visit the church and world war 2 war shelters, both within walking distance.
Lovely hotel exactly where we thought it would be. Friendly staff, good food and very comfortable beds. Only negative is the noise from the main road if you stay at the front of the hotel.

Nice Hotel, great facilities.

Posted 05-Apr-2015
Really lovely hotel. Rooftop pool, indoor pool, spa facilities, bar & 3 restaurants. Apart from the lady who checked us in and whoever she was speaking to on the phone (who rolled her eyes when we asked if there was a possibility we could be moved to a room off the main road as it was a bit noisy) all staff were polite and helpful. Room itself was spacious with a balcony, mini kitchen, bath and shower. Bus stop right opposite the hotel takes you to the Gozo ferries (through Melleiha Bay) and the bus stop on the same side takes you to Valletta/Sliema/Airport etc... €1.50 for a day ticket - bargain! Would recommend three restaurants nearby: 'Bouquet Garni' (fresh fish/meat and desserts to die for), 'ta Randi' (big portions, great value) and 'Master Wok' (excellent chinese food).
