The Rood Top restaurant

The Roof top restaurant is located on the 8th Floor from where it enjoys a panoramic view. We specialize in Mediterranean cuisine with a blend of traditional Maltese dishes, which are displayed on our buffet in a very attractive and appetising presentation. The candle lit tables and the breathtaking view as a background, certainly creates the venue for an enjoyable and that romantic evening.

The Roof top Restaurant is furnished with a lounge / bar area which offers a relaxed ambiance where one can relax or socialise in comfort.

Café Bottega – “Probably the best coffee shop in Sliema”

The Café Bottega - located along the Tigne Seafront promenade (popularly known as “The Ferries”) in the heart of Sliema, is a coffee shop with a difference, where you can enjoy sipping a coffee al fresco while you watch the world go by.

Caffé Bottega offers an excellent variety of snacks and drinks for you to enjoy with friends while shopping in Sliema, served to you by friendly staff in a comfortable and thoroughly inviting atmosphere with beautiful views of Valletta.

Tazza d’Oro is an excellent Italian blend of coffee served at the Café Bottega; it goes down deliciously well with our traditional homemade cheesecakes and the wide variety of mouth-watering pastries in our display.

Evenings at the Café Bottega are a worthwhile experience. Sip a glass of delicate local or foreign wine al fresco and enjoy a delicious plate of Italian pasta or pizza especially prepared by our Italian chef. Entertainment would be provided at least twice weekly to create the right atmosphere. BE THERE.

Café Bottega is open from 8:30am until late at night.

“The Marina Hotel, Sliema, Malta”

This hotel looked so nice on the website and in pictures. Upon arrival we had a nice experience at the front desk where a nice gentleman chatted to us and gave us the keys. When we got to our room both me and my wife couldn't believe what we were seeing! We had a room that obviously had not been cleaned for a long time; we had four single beds???! (a double room had been booked); a view of a brick wall; no air conditioning (Maltese heat is exreme); and a dirty, filthy bathroom. We found possessions from the previous occupants. The fridge was padlocked unless you paid a fee. A remote control for tv had to be paid for. The toilet didn't flush properly. The room was so hot it was unbearable. I woke with several huge flea bites. I could go on but I hope you get the idea. We had to make plans to book elsewhere. We also ate at the resturant one night and it was just horrific. The food was like microwave meals.

Area recommendations
The area is fine. No sandy beaches near by but easy access to sea from rocky shores. Large shopping centre down the road. Loads of cashpoints. Many resaurants but they are all pretty much the same. If you try you can find real Maltese restaurants very close by and try real Maltese food for reasonable prices. The costs were actually more than I had expected. Malta is not cheap for tourists. Good public transport and it gets you to everywhere on island within an hour. Sliema is also a very short bus ride to Valetta.

“Excellent Tourist Class Hotel on the Strand!”

I enjoyed my stay at the Marina. It was surprisingly quiet to be located on such a busy street. The hotel looks out over the Strand & Marsamxett Harbour. The beauty of it is that the hotel is right at the Sliema Terminus, so you're able to get just about anywhere easily from the hotel by bus, or you can use the Marsamxett Ferry Service to get quickly to Valletta. The Sea View room I had was very spacious and had a nice balcony. Breakfast was simple, but adequate. Overall, it was an excellent place to sleep (I was not in the room except at night). You're also a few blocks from a market and several excellent restaurants. The only complaint I had the entire time is that the toilet did not seem to flush easily. I informed the desk clerk about it, but nothing was fixed, so I took matters into my own hands and opened the tank, finding a half liter bottle of water there to, I assume, save water. You're not saving water if you have to flush two or three times. Upon removal, everything was fine.

Area recommendations
Sliema is a great place to make your base. It's fairly quiet, especially compared to St. Julian's, yet you have all the amenities you might need: restaurants of all types, shops, a supermarket. Plus, you can get just about anywhere from Sliema by bus. If you're in to the bar scene, there's some there, and the more lively clubs are fairly close, easily reachable by bus. Also, the sea along Tower Road in the evening is beautiful.
Dining
Vino Veritas is an excellent Italian restaurant at the corner of Sir Adrian Dingli Street and Tower Road. Though the new management isn't as friendly (to me) as the old fellow who used to run the place, the food is excellent. I'd recommend it to anyone. Also, the Fortizza is fairly good as well and they have free wifi. Be sure and drink a Cisk for me.

“Decent well-run mid-range hotel in good location”

A well-managed hotel, with friendly service, and everything in good order, for a reasonable price. Well-situated for exploring Sliema and beyond. Not the ultimate in luxury or designer elegance, but you'll need to pay a lot more for those.

“Friendly good service helpful staff - would go again”

We enjoyed our stay with the welcoming helpful staff and management - no complaints and excellent location overlooking the harbour at Sliema and near to all ferry and transport services with good local restaurants and shopping nearby.

“Good location, fair mattresses”

Central location-so easy to get anywhere. The room was clean but a bit down at the heels. The staff was wonderful-helpful, attentive, absolutely what you would want in hoteliers. Breakfast was generous, both for Europeans and American tastes. Pay for the bay view, enjoy the view of St. John's and all the fireworks. Out the hotel to the right, and up the street takes you to the Strand and some beaches. Enjoy!

Traveller's tip
Try the Ta' Kolina hotel several blocks down on the Strand. Great food, wonderful service.

“hotel Marina- Sliema-molto buono”

“Hotel The Marina - Strategico:accanto alla Valletta e al centro di Sliema (negozi ecc). No pulizia.”

Per dare un giudizio complessivo dobbiamo tenere conto ovviamente del prezzo pagato per alloggiarvi: l'offerta era molto allettante. La nostra soddisfazione circa l'hotel è sufficiente; questo risultato è frutto di due elementi negativi: la pulizia e il comfort della camera. LA CAMERA Camera molto spaziosa, televisore sempre gratuito con tutti i programmi italiani e bagno abbastanza confortevole. L'arredamento è vecchio, ma questo sarebbe nulla se almeno fosse garantita la pulizia. In particolare abbiamo trovato le lenzuola sporche, o meglio lavate male, in quanto abbiamo riscontrato macchie e qualche capello. Il bagno sostanzialmente era abbastanza pulito. SERVIZI Negativi. Il clima non era dei migliori e il riscaldamento non è mai entrato in funzione, anzi funzionava ma il flusso d'aria era freddo. La temperatura in camera era di circa 14/15 gradi, mai di più. Per ben 5 volte abbiamo fatto presente il problema, ma non è mai stato risolto (abbiamo alloggiato in hotel per 4 giorni). L'acqua calda funzionava ad intermittenza, è preferibile fare la doccia la mattina in quanto la sera la temperatura era veramente bassa. PASTI. Colazione continentale soddisfacente. Cena sufficiente. POSIZIONE La posizione della struttura è strategica, ottima sia per la vicinanza alla Valletta (dove si trova molta storia, ma poca vita e negozi), sia perchè questo hotel è situato nel centro di Sliema ricca di negozi molto moderni, pub e ristoranti. “Vue imprenable”

Grandes chambres avec balcon donnant sur La Valette. Mobilier un peu viellot. Confort 3 étoiles pas plus! Personnel de la réception pas très accueillant. Chambres propres.

“Hôtel bien situé mais pas entretenu”

Confort déplorable (literie spartiate, linge de toilette hors d'usage, propreté de la chambre douteuse) mais accueil correct (personnel de la réception et directeur). Points positifs : hôtel relativement peu bruyant, bien situé face à La Vallette et à la baie de Sliema, et proche des transports locaux (bus, ferry).

Traveller's tip
Bon rapport qualité-prix uniquement avec vue sur mer, sinon hôtel à éviter malgré une localisation agréable.
