“Will be back & recommend it to others.”
As soon as I arrived I was greeted by a very young & lovely smile receptionist who made me most welcomed & answered all my queries with a high standard of professionalism.( Other co-workers could improve by learning from her). The cleaning lady made sure daily I had all I needed. The waiting staff were also fantastic. The location ideal & convenient to shops & buses. My only complaint would be so much nicer to have proper rashers of bacon in lieu of streaky fatty bits & proper percolated coffee for breakfast as well as complimentary tea bags & coffee in rooms, not just kettle & cups.
“What a shocking hotel”
I would avoid this hotel if you can ,bad food ,bad service ,front desk billing is shocking ,front desk service is a joke .
“Excellent Location, Clean Comfortable Hotel”
This is my second visit to the Park Hotel. My room was clean and comfortable. The hotel provides a kettle and cups in your room but if you want tea/coffee you need to buy this from the hotel reception or bring your own. My only moan was with the hotel cleaning staff, who can be heard in the corridors quite early in the morning, 8.30ish, so if you want a lie in take ear plugs! The pool was closed on the roof but the sunbeds were available and we made good use of them given the lovely weather! The area surrounding the pool could do with a lick of paint but this wasn't a problem at all! The hotel is in an excellent position, just off the seafront and about a 5 minute walk to the shops/bars etc. The sightseeing bus tours and Harbour cruise are also a pleasant 10 minute walk away. St Julians is about a 10 minute bus ride away and its so cheap to travel around on the local buses! The breakfast was great and set us up for the day. I think the hotel caters more for mature age groups, so it wouldn't be suitable for hen or stag parties. However, us 3 girls (40 somethings!) had a great time and even joined in with the evenings entertainment (ballroom/line danicng).
“Only stay with a discount”
The hotel is a upper budget hotel. I had a reduced cost by almost 50% so it was worth what I paid. If you pay more than a budget price, then it is not recommended.
“2 star hotel not 4 star”
I'm not sure how Maltese hotels gain their status as 4 star but this is the second hotel I've stayed in claiming to be 4 star when in fact it's no better than an average 2 star in other European countries. Staff were friendly both at the reception and in the dining area. That's about as good as it gets. The hotel is described as contemporary. Contemporary if you live in the 1950s maybe but not if it's 2010. Everything about the place is dated and worn from an ill fitting balcony door to sun bleached pictures, a tiny TV, tired decor and old carpets. Luckily I only spent a few days here on business; please think very carefully if you are planning a holiday in Malta and want to stay here for a week or two. It may be cheap but it's cheap for a reason.
“Fab Hotel”
Had a lovely stay in the hotel, all the staff were great and the food very nice.
“Have stayed in better”
There were problems with the electricity to the extent that maintenance needed to be called. the maid left the balcony door open leaving the heating to not work as it was linked to a sensor on the door. This meant when we came back the room was freezing. The bed was broken which meant that each of us sloped into the middle of the bed so not very comfortable. Wrong information was given to me by one of the reception staff regarding the bus system which led to an hour spent lost and waiting for a bus that was never going to arrive as we were in the wrong place. There is a cafe which claims to be 24hour yet it has no snacks such as nuts, crisps etc which i guess conveniently means you need to use room service. Breakfast was lovely and always fresh, the room was always cleaned properly and fresh linen and towels provided.
“Should have listened to other travellers”
Already lowered my expectations and thought what could go wrong with a 4-star hotel? First of all, it's not 4-star. Other 2-star hotels might be better. Yes it has an indoor pool but after seeing the cleaniness of my room I just didn't bother using it. No duvets were provided and given it was winter time I had to use a filthy blanket to keep myself warm. Filthy indeed! The sheets were yellow in colour and probably as old as the Malta buses. I slept in horror as I found some crawly creatures in my bed one night. Oh not again! On my second day while I was changing someone opened the door to my room - I shouted 'wait'. Then I got a call seeing that their computer showed my room was vacant and I had to register again... Staff were friendly and helpful though. Breakfast was average. Does the toaster ever work??? The staff didn't seem to be bothered about the fact that it's spitting over pieces of black charcoal whatever the setting.
“overrrated by one star”
Good location, Good breakfast . Bedroom OK but more suitable to a hotel graded one star less . Shower room poor . Advertises tea and coffee-making facilities and provides a kettle but no tea or coffee and invites you to buy these from the supermarket .
“United Kingdom”
The Park hotel, is a good basic hotel, is in need of some redecoration and a bit of TLC. The rooftop terrace and pool are lovely (although the weather was a little chilly to enjoy fully), however the indoor pool was not as large as it looks in the pictures and was not particularly appealing. The resturant meals whilst are fine in themselves could do with a little imagination injecting into the menus. However, the staff are friendly and do help you have a good stay. A good basic hotel, worth considering if you get as good a deal as we did.
