After decades of travelling, this has got to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. The hotel is full of character and a pleasant contrast from the "you could be anywhere in the world, similar rooms are us" hotel chains. Efficient air conditioned room, comfortable bed, bang up-to-date bathroom, spacious sitting area with many English-speaking TV channels (also Italian, German etc). The copious breakfast menu changes every day (but special requests are possible) and sets you up for a day of activity or relaxation. There is a communal lounge and a roof terrace with a great view over the Grand Harbour towards the Three Cities. A few minutes away are a selection of restaurants, bars and shops, it is a great location. We visited in March and the area was very quiet at night. The staff were always helpful. Best of all however is Frank who owns, loves and runs the place. Nothing is too much trouble, he is a lovely caring and endearing man, the type who should be signed up to run customer care courses.
