“An ok basic hotel”
Firstly, I wouldn't call this a 4* hotel. It is fairly basic, and seems like quite a while ago since it was last refurbished. However, for my needs it worked well. The staff were friendly, the room was large (although tv very small..), the rooftop pool and sundeck always had available sunbeds. There was also a bar that served good food and drinks at the pool. Additionally, there was a restaurant on the ground level, however I didn't use it. On the downside, the lifts were not always working so I had to take the stairs a few times. There was an extra cost for using the safety box, which was available in the room. I think the cost was €1.25 / day. I also had to pay for a towel to use by the pool/sundeck. Around the hotel there are plenty of restaurants, pubs, shops. The seaside/beach is about 5-10 min walk away.
“No problems”
Booked the hotel for a one night stopover on the way to Gozo. Clean comfortable and helpful receptionists. Had a great breakfast before continuing my journey for less than a B and B in the UK. Booked a taxi from the airport online before I flew for 11 euros, half the standard rate. Very close to the buses so 50p to the ferry terminal. Glad I chose this way of dealing with a late night flight. Wouldn't choose a holiday in Qawra after seeing Gozo and St Julians. Would do the same again
“Not Impressed”
Would not stay at this hotel again.
“Great Hotel.”
Well maintained hotel, clean, friendly staff who were helpful and polite. Hotel is in Buggiba Squarer and has supermarket next door, chemist, and doctor accross the road, lots of places to eat within 2 mins, 10 min walk to the seafront, has a great spa, indoor and outdoor pool. would highly recommend, we are going back in august.
“It was excellant value for money.”
Friendly and helpful staff throughout hotel. Restaurant and food excellant. Bar and staff provided good service. Indoor and outdoor pools of good standard. Games room small and insufficient room to play on pool table. Adjoining pub needs livening up. Rooms were clean and tidy. Unfortunate repetitive noise in the night - from air conditioning? At times enjoyed the peace and comfort of the library room. Superb location near bus station, pubs, restaurants, shops and promenade. Overall I thoroughly enjoyable my stay there. I would go back there and recommend it to others.
“Santana Hotel, Malta May/June 2010”
Clean hotel with good amenities. Close to promenade, restaurants and bus station. Good food. recommend
“Fit for purpose”
I was in Qawra for a wedding in Malta and spent a lot of my time away from the hotel with friends and at the wedding itself. The hotel served my purpose very well and I would not hesitate to use it again. It is very conveniently situated and the staff were most helpful and polite; my request for a room on the ground floor was met in a very satisfactory way.
“Humm..not a 4* hotel but great location”
The hotel looks good as you enter, but the rooms are not of quality. I stayed in a standard room. The fittings were poor, thought the fan on the ceiling may fall off ;-). Just not 4 star quality at all. The breakfast offers a great range, but just ok! Don't expect great quality english breakfast if that's what you are after. Don't eat in the Moire resturant - souless! La Mentha is definitely the better place to eat in the hotel. Had lovely pizzas there. Lots of places to eat all around the area though. The location is great! Next to buggiba. The beaches are stoney locally - need to travel for a sandy one i'm afraid. Bus stop right outside the hotel, takes you everywhere and really cheap!! There is a roof top pool! Quite nice, but gets windy but great views!!! Not a big pool, but lots of sunbathing areas around. You must take avantage of the jacuzzi and spa!!! Great, and mostly quiet when the sun is out. Overall...the hotel wasn't great quality to what i expected, but it didn't ruin my holiday of a week there. I would book a bigger room suite, and you may enjoy your stay a bit better. Views are not great from rooms...but unless you over look the sea...this is just normal in Malta. Book if you want a cheap stay, lots to do elsewhere - certainly won't dim your overall stay if you book here unless you want quality rooms.
“Poor hotel for a nice island”
No proper air conditioning in any of the 3 rooms we have been moved... cleanliness not to mention. The location is quite convenient but in general there must be better options in Qwara.
“Lovely stay in Qawra”
Hotel Santana is a good all round 3-4 star hotel. Location excellent close to bars and restaurants without being too noisy. Staff helpful and very friendly. Only downside was view of concrete area from rooms on first floor and lack of air conditioning beyond the reception area. Would be nice if rooms offered free tea and coffee making facilities. Food was excellent good choice especially breakfast. Roof top pool was lovely and always room on the sunbeds. Really enjoyed holidaying in such a safe and friendly place. Will definately return.
